I'm curious to know if anyone else was as upset by seeing Eagle Riders on tv for the first time? I remember ranting at the tv saying that it was a total rip off of BOTP and how I was going to try and find some way to report it to Sandy Frank. I did however wake up extra early on saturday mornings so I could see the closest thing to BOTP that I had for at least a decade. Still keeping in my head that I wanted to report it. I had even taped a number of episodes so I didn't have to wake up early.
When I finally came across the first set of dvds/vcr tapes of BOTP I bought one of every tape they had. After this past summer I did get rid of most of my "blank" tapes along with the episodes that I had taped. Kinda wished that I had not but I'm most happy watching my beloved BOTP and Gatch so I guess the world works out for the best.
Sorry for such a long post but I just want to know if I was the only insane person out there that thought someone else couldn't legally release it as something else??? Took me years to figure that one out. Thats me!!!!!

I'd already seen G-Force before I saw Eagle Riders, and some original Gatch, so I knew there was more than one version.
In France and also in several spanish and portugese speaking countries, and Italy too I think, they had extended BOTP. They made local versions using Gatch 2 (and maybe Gatch F, I can't remember).
There is also a bizarre Korean ripoff of Gatch that got dubbed into spanish, which was a sort of movie length cut down Gatch 2. The oddest thing is that it was all very similar to Gatch 2 but used different animation. They drew it from scratch, but it's still most definitely Gatch.
So I've no aversions
To multiple versions
I've started to rhyme
To stop, it is time.

I have been fine with multiple versions, expecially now that I have my BOTP to watch. It just really caught me off gaurd when it came out and I was feeling the loss of BOTP all over again when I saw ER.

I have read about G-Force and Eagle Riders and glad that I have never seen them by the sounds of them. I am also gald that Gatchaman is better at times than BOTP and visa versa.

I agree Metaliant. Both have their own special place with me. BOTP rates slightly higher because of the way it has a certain timing to be around when I've needed it most. Also it was the first version that I saw so it sticks with me more. Glad to have been introduced to Gatch though too.

I also agree with you as well. In Britain, the only version I saw was BOTP and because last year, I was on broadband, I found out about Gatchaman and when I read about it, I was very, very intrigued and after buying the first DVD, I was hooked. I could go on to compare, but I won't as I enjoy both.

I think a huge part of the problem with Eagle Riders was that Gatch 2 and Gatch F weren't on a par with original Gatchaman, and mashing them together with cuts for violence didn't do it any more favours. But I still have a soft spot for Eagle Riders (that's not a lead in to any jokes about compost heaps or the like) as it was my first exposure to Gatch 2.
I have 30 eps of Eagle Riders in french - it makes no less sense
And I do adore Mallanox and Cybercon.

Because I saw them on sale in french. It's not as if they're ever likely to come out on DVD in english, except as bootlegs.
It is funny hearing the pronunciations of Mickey, Kelly and Ollie in french, because the "y" at the end of each name is really emphasised. But it hasn't helped my french at all, because they speak too fast. And I keep on being distracted by their wacky way of saying their names.

I have seen many comparisons of ER to Gatch 2 and F. How do you guys know so much about the other Gatch series? Have they been released or is there big information on the internet that I'm not aware of? I have been curious about the other two series just have never seen them. Also I now know why ER never quite set right with me. It was the combo of the versions.... . Thanks for the inside info there now I like ER for what it was.

The comparisons come mainly because it's a combination of Gatch 2 and F. As for information, I just looked it up on various websites.
I've only seen one episode of Eagle Riders. I remember that I was quite young and quite confused as to why all the voices were different and what the heck was going on.
Being confused as to why all the voices were different and what the heck was going on is the curse/joy of every Gatchamaniac, as they discover new versions.
I've got Gatch F on tape, and I did start posting up some non-japanese-speaking reviews before my NTSC compatible tape player broke. If you look on my WWW link you'll see them.
I've also got bits of Gatch 2, not very many episodes though.
Alara Rogers' website and http://www.gatchaman.com both contain episode synopses of Gatch 2 as well as original Gatchaman episodes.
