Hope you're having a good first day at work, today! My kids' school day is over at this hour ... it's already 4.15pm, and now I only have to prepare my daughter for gymnastics, then cook, then wait for the kids to eat, then wash them, then prepare their clothes and things for tomorrow, then sort the laundry, then doing some last minute research on the computer, then planning work for tomorrow ..... oh, the list just never ends ... I might just have a small fraction of time for myself to apply a quick mask on my hair ... or not! Faint

Owl and owlet--that one's really cute. And truly, he needn't worry about the little squirt's parents rejecting it because he handled it: if he can get it back into the nest, they'll accept it. Most parent birds are happy to get their straying children back, smell notwithstanding. If it peeps like Baby, it's "Welcome home!" It's only when the chick has been down long enough to be really weak that things go sour: the parents may give up on it because it's beyond their ability to revive.

Besides, Ryu might find chopping up mousie four times a day rather off-putting. Wink (I worked raptor rehab in undergrad. Six-thirty AM feeding shift, baggie of thawed mice in the fridge and bucket of shrieking baby barn owl on the scale. It didn't help that the "house brand" of mice smelled exactly like the hot dogs Mom used to feed us as kids. Seriously. Sceptic )

I don't know, and can't imagine, who actually does not have a tight schedule nowadays! Life has become so franatic no matter the lifestyle one has! My only regret is the lack of quality time to be able to read a book, and actually concentrate on it, or to be able to communicate and contribute to this site without having the need to look constantly at the clock because it could be already time to do something else which cannot wait!

Oh how much it's easy to do the latter thing at times! But then, when you start thinking, you become aware how much you're in the wrong ... living this kind of life means that you're in health ... that all those you love are ... and you have to thank heavens that you're fortunate enough to be living the normal schedule and not encountering grave problems which life could offer. It makes me feel fortunate and it's more than worthy to save the world if ever I could be able to ... for me and for all the human beings who deserve to live the same or a better life! Sorry for my being carried away ... sometimes I can't help it!

Ooooo, I did not know that. So then I could be returning most babies I find straying around instead of calling the local wildlife service.

When in doubt, call the local service.

BTW, many animal mothers leave their babies alone for hours at a time. If you come across an apparently abandoned (but otherwise healty and clean) baby animal, watch it for a while. Mom just may return. But if it's hungry, injured, and dirty, it just might be abandoned or in other trouble.
