14 years of wedded insanity, as of today. I'd say wedded bliss, but bliss seems too tame, too pastoral, to describe something in the real world. Ours is more like shaking our heads and grinning.
Other good news:
Son earned his first stripe in karate Monday. Biggest grin I've ever seen on him.
Hubby earned his first stripe two weeks ago, second last night; son's going to test next Monday so he can catch up.
Daughter still loves wearing the poncho and can't wait to get the mittens -- another 30 minute or so and they'll be done. Still have to sew the hood to the poncho and make a fringe. Maybe put a button on the poncho.
PL had a great 50th wedding anniversary. Sans hubby, seeing as he left 40 years ago and seems to have mostly forgotten he was married to her (apparently he'd forgotten about it a few times durring the marriage, and then didn't even tell his new inlaws he had a daughter!) She figures that, seeing as it was her only wedding, she's entitled to celebrate the anniversary in any way she sees fit.
Son is now reading Trumpet of the Swan, with help for about 4 words per hundred. Seems an extra chapter at bedtime is worth the effort of reading.
Both kids loved Kiplings Just So Stories. So nice to carry on the memories from one generation to the next.
Found a cheap digital timer, finally! Useful for timing homework and for breakfast races -- they both finished breakfast in record time this morning!
Son is wearing his watch most of the time now.
Daughter is counting to twenty. Often misses 16, 17, 18 and 19, but I suspect she'll remember 16 once she realizes it means her driving license.
Mile-long walk to school is down to 15 minutes.
Physio for shoulder has passed the "more aches and pains, not less" stage. (Rotator cuff injury from spring is actually that neck ache from three years ago, gotten worse -- pinched nerve means shoulder can't keep stable and gets injured. And what I'd thought was carpal tunnel is the same nerve.)
Rejoined a group of retired Girl Guide leaders in the next town. Haven't been able to go for two or three years, but I've missed them. The local group just isn't the same. Had a great, relaxing, friendly dinner with them last night. And the restaurant had small desserts, so I got to have dessert too!
Cheers!!!
