The JT company is using the melody from the Gatchaman opening theme song as the basis for a song about their new canned coffee drink, "Roots Triple Free." The lyrics are, of course, changed to espouse the virtues of their coffee, whose claim to fame is that it has 0 calories, 0 fat, and 0 sugar (Hence the "Triple Free"). The commercial itself features a trio of comedians known as "The Neptunes," and the song is sung by singer/songwriter Sunplaza Nakano.
If you want to see it, the commercial is available on the Roots Triple Free website at:
Thanks for sharing this with us, James! That's really great and hilarious!! I so like how Japanese express themselves so freely and so lively without embarassment and how they manage to revive childhood memories with such simplicity and relating it to whatever they like! They must all be Gatchaman fans and the acting was great! I bet that many Gatchamaniacs will end up drinking a lot of that "Triple Free"!
