I think the hot "baths" in Japan usually are gender oriented.
Does that make sense? Males and females would not mix in a bathing area and I suspect that is what this place is meant to be portraying. Not a beach or a family pool.

From what I've seen and learnt I think that such areas like these (I don't know if I'm calling them right as public thermal baths with hot springs) are strictly restricted according to the sex, men having their area and women having another!

I was sure some one had given us a translation for that picture but I can not find it at the moment. Maybe it was not on this site but on another site that I remember the person translating pictures for us.

Yes, LB! Thanks! And it's a wonder how looks change by changing only some small things like simply taking off a pair of spectacles and wearing something other than usual!

These changes make him appear much younger. Now he is no longer a 40 something running a group of teenagers but a late 20 or early 30 year old. I wonder if he grew the mustache to make himself appear older while speaking to the ISO council. Who were all filled with "old" geezers.
*more plot bunnies bounding around in my head.*

It's been my observation that men with mustaches and/or beards are traditionally common in both the military (at least in Canada) and academia, and glasses are often used to symbolize greater intellect or a scholarly nature. I could believe that Dr. Nambu, in earlier days at the ISO, might have wanted to make himself look more authoritative, especially if he were dealing with a lot of important people who might not take him seriously (at first, anyway).
It depends. My husband grew his mustache in high school and never shaved it off. I can't imagine him without it, but I'm not attracted specifically to men with mustaches. He's had a beard a few times, but neither of us ended up liking it. He's had a goatee for the past few years and that's worked well for him.
Now, from what I've seen, mustaches tend to show gray before head hair. That might be when Nambu/Anderson would shave it off, to keep his youthful (short of) appearance.

Yes, James, he does look a lot like Dr. Nambu! And I'm glad you're recuperating, Springie! With your effort you're giving us the pleasure of seeing some new pics also! Thanks! BTW, the last pic of Dr. Nambu does give him an intriguing look!

Your modified Nambu reminds me of Jeff, a guest character from Gatchaman II #11.
Perhaps they're cousins...
I do see a resemblance!
Jun got a new hairstyle for Gatch II, and all the Ninjas got new civvies. I wonder if there was ever any thought given to updating Dr. Nambu's look for Gatch II. In my opinion, he was the one who most needed a clothing makeover -I think the Ninjas' civvies looked best in the first series. Even if they'd left him his mustache and sideburns, they could easily have given him a different suit -ideally one without a yellow shirt, pale blue jacket and reddish brown vest.
