My job has said that they will rehire me as soon as I can do everything they want. Still I may look into a couple of things during the time frame that I'm fired, and see how things pan out.
I'm sending good thoughts your way, hoping things all work out okay for you!
GG, I'm glad your job is still being held open for you. I know those couple of weeks in the middle can be frustrating, but at least you have something to go back to.
Yes it is a blessing to know I have a job to return to, seeing how the economy still struggles some. Weird thing is, the job my B/H and I do, I check the parts he stamps, is actually running overtime.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that 4-day Comic Con memberships that include admission to Preview Night on the Wednesday night before the con officially opens Thursday morning have now sold out. 4-day memberships that do not include admission to Preview Night are still available, but who know how long they'll last! If you're planning to attend, memberships can be purchased on the Comic Con website at:
Thank you James.
I have bought my ticket, now I am just looking for a cheep flight out and trying to figure out when and where I will be meeting others so I can consider dates.

Just a quick update for anyone planning to attend the convention next summer to let you know that 4-day memberships are going fast. The 4-day memberships with Preview Night are gone, and the 4-day memberships without Preview Night are now 74% sold out. At this rate, expect all of the 4-day memberships to be gone before the end of the year.
So, if you're planning to attend and haven't bought a membership yet, you might want to do so quickly! They can be purchased online at the Comic Con website at:
I figure I should point out that, in the two days since I wrote last, the percentage of sold 4-day memberships has gone up from 74% to 87%. At this rate, they'll sell out of all 4-day memberships over the weekend. So, if you think that there's even a chance that you'll attend the convention, you might want to purchase a membership. If it turns out that you can't go, you can always get a refund.
As I've mentioned before, memberships can be bought on the Comic Con website at:
For the 2009 con, the 4-day passes sold out in mid-March, and the 1-day passes were gone by late May.
They aren't selling 1-day passes for the 2010 con yet, but they probably will shortly after the 4-day passes are sold out (So...next week maybe?). Those will probably start to go fast once people realize that they missed out on the 4-day passes.
As much as I'd like to go, it's way too expensive, way too crowded (us recluses don't like people much), and Kevin J. Anderson is going to be there. And I just may have to force him to tell me where Frank Herbert's son is, then strangle both him and Herbert for massacring the Dune series.
So it's best I stay home. Less of a chance to commit a crime.
I agree, the passes are selling quickly this year, despite the big price increase. I have to wonder if they cut down on the overall number of passes being sold. Financially, if they can raise the price and sell fewer passes (but still take in the same overall revenues) it's more profitable, because they need less in the way of cleanup and security to run the Con.
Another possibility is that people saw that the Preview Night attendance was limited, and that encouraged a lot of early buying. Add that to the large numbers of people who normally buy their passes before Christmas, and that may be why it's selling out quickly.
We won't know until next year, when we see how many people are there.
Well, I see that 4-day memberships for the convention are now sold out. Of course, if you want to attend the convention for just a day or two, then you'll be glad to know that 1-day memberships for each of the four days will soon be available on the convention website. Considering how quickly the 4-day memberships sold out, I'd expect the 1-day memberships to sell out a lot faster than you'd normally expect. When I see that those are for sale, I'll be sure to post about it here!

I've only read the first three books in the Dune series, so they're safe from me (for now...). I first read "Dune" back when I was an undergrad, and around that time I was talking to some guy at a party and he passionately implored me never to read beyond the third book. As it turns out, for various reasons (reading other things, time constraints etc.) I never did read beyond the third book in the series. But, I've always intended to, at some point (I mean, the guy at the party was a bit drunk -who knows if he had any real clue what he was talking about...)
