My ringtone on my cell phone is the original Gatchaman theme in Japanese...I get strange looks sometimes but I never miss hearing it since its unique here in OZ.
And for messages...I hear the Eagles birdrang sound thats played at the end of it. Its a cool message tone. It really does sound like the message is moving through the air and into my phone!

Now, is anyone in Animetal even old enough to have been ALIVE when the first 'Gatch' series came out?
Yes. The lead singer for the group, Eizo Sakamoto, as born on February 23, 1964, Bass player Masaki was born on December 19, 1968, and drummer Yasuhiro Umetani was born on April 21, 1956. I don't know what year Guitarist She-ja was born, but it's probably safe to assume that he is similar in age to the other members.
Hmm. So maybe my timing is off. How old is that concert I watched? They looked like a Japanese version of KISS (and those guys started in the 1970s).
Animetal was formed in late 1996, and their first CD came out in early 1997. That concert is apparently the one performed in Club Quattro, located in Shibuya Ward of Tokyo, on March 23, 1997.

That Italian theme is catchy! Although I always have to laugh when they say 'Ryu, Il Goofo!'
Okay, I know I probably spelled that wrong, and I'm sure 'goofo' means 'Owl' in Italian, but of course in English, it means something else entirely...
But yes, I like the music on that one.
I know what you mean!! If you're not Italian or not familiar with the Italian language, "Gufo" does sound funny (and yes it means "owl") ... just like "Katse" sounds to me as I explained some time ago! I also don't know why they added "Pretty" before "Jane" for Jun's name being read in full as "Pretty Jane"! It also sounds awkward through the series especially when Ken, like the others, call her "Pretty Jane"!! We once had a canary at home and called him "Pretty Boy"! Perhaps that's why I find it so funny!

I'm somewhat used to the 'Pretty Jane' aspect of it, as I have been reading Daniela's scripts for a couple of years now. But I agree, it is a little awkward. It makes her seem more like an object, as opposed to a person. As you say, pets are often named 'Pretty Boy' or some such, no people.

I might have to look into doing something like that Ebony... kinda cool that it rings that way!
