Interesting, like the actress rumored to be Jun, he sort of looks like Ken (if Ken were blonde), though it's solely a voice part.

I wish there were some way to know who adds info to the IMDB page, and where they're getting the info from. I suppose, even if none of these "rumored" people actually get the roles, if Imagi is actually doing auditions and making casting decisions, that would be an encouraging sign (though not a guarantee that the the movie's sure to be completed).

I have to admit, this does get me just a wee bit excited, even though I am trying to restrain myself. I like the idea that they are casting voices, even if it's just rumor at this point! Yippee

From what little experience I've had with IMDB, that kind of rumored information comes from people who post regularly and frequently on their message boards, not from any sort of reliable sources.

Which makes me suspect that whoever is submitting these names to IMDB is simply telling them his "dream cast" for a live action Gatchaman film.

It is far more likely that, whenever Imagi actually does casting for this movie, they will be going for talent who are better known than these people. Just look at the cast they have for Astro Boy. They've got Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy, Kristen Bell, and Freddie Highmore. You know, people you might actually have heard of. That is the type of casting they'll be doing when it comes time to truly audition people for roles in Gatchaman.

But, being fair, I've tried to search for any other sources that connect any of these actors with Imagi's film, and the only thing I've found are sites that are using IMDB as the source of their information. If anyone can find an independent source that has any information regarding this, let me know. Until then, I'd say it's just bunk.

Not recently. When I've tried to contact them in the past, all I've received is thundering silence.

They'll have representatives at Comic Con in July, and we can try to talk to them at that time. Unfortunately, if last year is any indication, their representatives will be know-nothings who appear to be there simply because they drew the short straws. Still, we'll try.

No, James is right. Last year I showed up in my SWAN costume, and asked about the Gatchaman movie. After a few minutes of chatting with them, one of them wanted to know what my costume was. Sigh...

At least I got them to recognize me/my costume.

That's the problem I have concerning the live-action movie of Gatchaman that Nikkatsu has announced they'd be making. The Yatterman live-action film was huge at the box office here in Japan, so unlike Imagi, Nikkatsu has plenty of money to do Gatchaman right now. No matter who play the Ninjas, I really don't think they'd be able to retain the images of the characters in the original show.ã€€ã€€

Yatterman was a big hit because the audience consisted of people watching the anime series currently running on TV (a lot of them kids, and their parents would come along), and also fans of individual actors playing the Yatterman characters. On the other hand, Gatchaman doesn't have a series right now, so the audience will mainly be fans of the actors and people like us--fans of the old show. I can't see it becoming a box office hit. Maybe Tatsunoko is thinking of doing a brand new Gatchaman series before the movie comes out. Now that would be interesting... Smirk

(I must say I'm one of the guilty ones that actually went to the theater to see Yatterman...but I dozed off during the showdown scene Simpleton

. An Anime version of Yatterman is coming out in August, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy it more than the live-action one.)

I saw an online trailer for the Yatterman live-action movie and it looked pretty good -I'd certainly want to see any live-action Gatchaman movie by Nikkatsu (even purely in Japanese), although I know it would inevitably seem a lot different from the original show. But from what you say, it does sound like Yatterman is a bigger draw these days than Gatchaman. Part of me wishes there were a new Gatchaman TV series too, but part of me is scared at the idea (thinking of the OAV...)!
