Hi all!

That is a cool helmet, but be aware that it is definitely a kid-sized item. Unless you've visited Trader Sam on the Jungle Cruise recently, most adults would have a difficult time squeezing their noggins into it!

OK TJ this is what you do...

For this project you will need.

A birdrang..

pencil and scissors
paper
glue...lots of glue
balloon
paint
chiffon
fabric stiffener
patience...and ahhh lots of diet coke...

1.Get a balloon and blow it up to about the size of your head.

2. Get some news paper and glue (make glue with cornflour and water.)

3. Paper mache the balloon.

4. Then when its all day draw the shape of the helmet onto it and cut it out. (The balloon inside will deflate.)

5. Buy some white, blue,red and black paint and start to paint it to look like the helmet.

6. Then get something thats a similiar shape to the visor, and then use a fabric like blue chiffon and fabric stiffener to mold it. When dry you will need to glue to the helmet...

I almost failed Grade 9 art, because we had a paper mache project... Mine was worse than something a Kindergartener would make! I guess, to be fair, I failed the pottery segment and the drawing segment too. Seriously, I was getting Fs on all my projects, and I was trying so hard. I only scraped through a pass in that class because we had a photography segment and that had a TEST we could actually STUDY for (chemicals to develop photos and such) and I got an A+ on that. Plus the teacher felt sorry for me. She knew I was trying and was just pathetic at art.

If all fails there is always the glue gun... you're good with a glue gun!!! If only you knew back then you could have glued up your pottery project... hine sight is a wonderful thing...sigh.

In fact I think that should go down as a weapon the ISO rejected...ROTFL!!!!

I feel for you -it sounds like you fared in Art about as well as I did in Home Economics (cooking and sewing). I wish I could have traded Home Ec for Art, but in my school system, there was no Art after Grade 6!

I remember making a paper mache mask in either grade 3 or grade 4 art. It didn't fit my face though, as I hadn't blown the balloon nearly big enough. But, I never did paper mache again...

Sounds similar to what I did at Junior school couple of times. Made a Roman helmet and something else.
