Sounds like you have a winner, CD! But I think you should include in your scheme how interested they are in taking out books. Do they WANT to read, or are they pulling the pop-up book off the shelf at the last minute just to have something?
IKWYM. You can give them the books, but making them to read is an entirely different matter. For the longest time, my son did not WANT to read, because he just enjoyed everyone else reading to him. But I've been forcing him to do it, and he's picked up a lot since last September.

LOL...I remember always going for the National Geographic type books and the librarian suggesting that they were too advanced for me at the time. And after the umpteenth time of me asking her "What does this word mean?"...she introduced me to a dictionary and taught me how to use it! LMAO!!!
