I don't think I'm an RI hater, per se. Sure I think he was a terrible father, but I always looked at his character as the catalyst for (part of the reason) why Ken is the way he is and why he became the person he became. More an explanation than anything else... Y'know, one of those terrible influences on your life that you carry the scars of for the rest of your days... I think I view Nambu a little more unfavorably than I view RI, which you'll see if I ever finish any of my fics... The man was a horrible father figure and uses relationships as a means to an end... There's no real sense of family with him... A little hard-assed, if you ask me (ok, maybe more than a little). Someone who didn't really want the responsibility of raising 5 kids, but had to in order to have his plans come to fruition. So he views the team more as "objects" he can manipulate rather than kids/young adults he should be properly influencing to understand and be part of life. You'll see in my stories that I view him as someone who "puts up" with the teenagers because he had to, not because he wanted to.
Anyway, I digress. This was an RI bashing thread, wasn't it???

Hmmm, interesting. Similar to how I feel about Cronus.
And I use the 'scars' Cronus leaves on Mark to strengthen Mark so that he is eventually able to take on Cronus and knock him down a few rungs. Kind of like the student surpassing the teacher and.
Anderson - Although, in my universe, Mark was raised by Anderson, from the age of 1. Mark never calls him Father or Dad. He is always Chief or Anderson. This is due to the cold relationship Mark had with Anderson. Not full of lies, but Mark is used by Anderson to gain what he wants, a fighting team. At least this is all Anderson shows Mark. Inside he does feel, as you can see in my last fic. And in the one(s) I am writing now.
