Chocolate!

Me? Rant about chocolate? Not directly. It's more of a rant about a combination of mail order chocolate and the really hot weather we've had over here recently.

I have a subscription to a place that sends me fantastic, unusal, fresh and delicious chocolates once a month. They are, I'm convinced, the best chocolates in the world. Oh, there's the occasional experiment that fails, such as the recent sage/chocolate effort which, well, try to imagine paxo stuffing covered in chocolate - not a huge success. But in the main their chocs are just fantastic. Here's a picture, just to show you.

Oh yeah, 3 have been eaten.

I thought, well, I could send them back. Because they're clearly not in the state they're best meant to be enjoyed in.

And then I thought, but if I send them back, the replacement box is going to go through exactly the same process as the one I've got. The postman will not be able to deliver it to me, it'll go back to the depot, it'll be there for at least 1 day, and it'll arrive in exactly the same squelchy state.

And the fact is that they all still most likely tastes just as they're meant to, even if the textures are changed.

So, I'm keeping my deformed chocs. But I'm going to deprive myself of the next 2 months in the hope that by September, they won't be melting so badly.

Now that the japanese have invented their invisibility cloak, it's time to invent cheap refrigerated packaging so that I can have my special chocs EVERY MONTH WITHOUT FAIL!

I subscribe to the same company...not as often as Id like to, though.

and they `Do` label the box carefully `Keep out of direct sunlight. etc`

you should complain to your warehouse. it is the post offices resonsibility to see the mail gets though...intact.

(I did not like the Sage stuffed chocs neither)

Tengu and I use www.chocs.com, but I think they only deliver to the uk. Just imagine the condition they'd arrive in after being shipped over to the US in the heat of summer

Tengu, you're right, I should complain. My post office has been causing me grief for some time.
