A white Christmas!

That would be lovely! Kimi...aahhhh to only dream about it. I grew up with Chrissy carols that were all about snow. It felt strange as a kid to sing songs about snow and cold places when it was so hot outside. Lucky Rolf Harris wrote us one for the summer countries...

And I was always the kid to piont out stuff like that...But why mum...LOL

Mum told when I was little and asked her about that it was because Santa lived in the North Pole and it was cold there. But he changed into shorts and a T-shirt, and a red Akubra hat with a white trim on it when came to Australia...

But still a white Christmas would be a wonderful experience.

The wheaterman forecast snow on the Christmas and New Year's Eve! Which is great, since it hasn't snow here for two years!

Being hit with snowballs by my school mates during breaks is another story!

I am beginning to realize the benefits of living in an apartment building! No shovelling! Ack! I haven't shovelled snow in...well... years! I got a workout and a half! I feel pretty good right now...but...I know I will be paying for it later!

Being on the 11th floor, the cats never really have experienced snow, and they've been whining to investigate just what this white stuff is outside. So I indulged their curiousity and put them up out on the kitty leash. The curiousity was satiated within 10 seconds tops...

I spent the morning out shoveling my driveway and the thigh high pile at the end created by the snow plow. Just as I was finishing my neighbour came out and started up his snowblower. Kimi, I too know by this evening I will start to feel the first signs of not shveling snow in almost a year.

I then went out to do my grocery shopping and came back in the rain. Now I am sitting with a nice cuppa hot chocolate with little marshmellows. mmmmm!

As for Snow for Christmas Ebony, it is too early to tell. Anything we get this early in the month usually has melted by Christmas. Then again, the forcasters are predicting a snowier winter this year than last so we will see especially since it looks like I have between 3-6 inches of the stuff, depending on where I measure.

Cloud wanders off humming some of those snowy, winter Christmas Carols: Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I have to tell you, I don't miss all of that shoveling stuff. Nor do I miss scraping ice off of my car every morning, salty slush splashing all over me, melting in my boots and heavy coat at the mall... etc. etc. etc.

But it still is always nice to have a think white layer of snow on Christmas. I do miss that.

And CD, IKWYM about the big drifts from the snow plows. My brother and I used to make forts out of the giant piles that would materialize at the foot of our driveways each year.

Living out in the country my brother and I would tunnel into the culvert in the ditch at the end of the driveway. Our parents would always remind us to watch out for the plows comming up the road. Although we were "under" ground we could get burried by a plow filling in our tunnel.

We would play out there for hours in the dark after school or all day on weekends.

Sorry about the picture quality. It's from my mobile phone and the lighting wasn't the best - it has been overcast all day. It should start with the rain (freezing rain) soon. What you are seeing is the snow on the school yard that is next door and apartments and a hospital in the background (the tall "smokestack" is a part of the hospital).

I loved snow as a kid but now... the only day I want to see it is on Christmas Day. Other than that... I could live without it. *grin*

We had our first real snowfall here today too. Not too much of an accumulation (maybe an inch at most - we didn't even shovel)), but it was really pretty, especially on the holly trees with the green foliage and red berries. Very Christmas-y.

I think's it turned to rain now, but it was nice while it lasted. Being a Sunday and not having to go anywhere helped. Wink1 I'm sure it will be one big ice slick tomorrow morning, so driving to work should be fun! Driving

No Sosai, Toronto is out of the freezing rain area, I hope. Just a winter storm watch. Perhaps more snow over night, making it fun to drive to work tomorrow, maybe even some school bus cancellations.

Going to the snow fields in winter here is expensive, so we have only been once. I loved the snow ball fight we had...it was tiring but fun! DH and I were in our mid 20's at the time. We went skiing, or at least tried to...snow plowed was more like it.

I guess shoveling it every morning wouldn't be fun...

Well I like to go to the beach for Boxing day. But this year we may not get there. Our baby is to young for that much sun exposure.

But I wen I was a teenager I spent Christmas day on the beach...I love the surf...Sunburn is not much fun though.

luckily I am not in an area where we need to shovel EVERY day, and if I am even luckier my neighbour will plow out my drive at the same time as his, for the price of a case of beer.

But my parents when I talked to them this afternoon said they had some snow every day last week. So they are shoveling or being plowed every day. The local farmer comes in and plows their drive if more than an inch falls. They could not shovel the drive seven acres long to the house. (Not sure how long it is in metres or feet.)

Ebony, have you seen those sun tents? They are great for babies that can't be in the sun all day. They are usually portable (they fold up and go with you).

Yeah they are popular in Aussie.

I actually don't have one because I have never really needed it. You can sun domes that fit about four people in them.

It's on our Christmas list!

Well I guess I should have had one when going to the beach, but I put lots of sunscreen on. and cover up during the day so I don't get burnt. LOL

DH and I haven't been able to get to the beach much since I started working weekends. We want to go camping at the beach again like we used to, it will be easier since I don't work in a job now.

This is the beach that I used to go to for 6 weeks every summer over Christmas and New Year.

DH and I love it there.

When I go to the beach more I lose weight and stay fitter.We are planning to go on a holiday there, soon hope. You're right on the beach and no sand flies in that area.

Since you live in California I guess you go to the beach when you can get there to...you know BAYWATCH ROTFL!
