Hi all,

Oh yeah, those Character Collection cloisonne pins! They were released in Japan by Yutaka in 1995, along with about 100 other non-Gatchaman anime character pins. It was a pretty big series, if you were trying to get them all! About 2 years ago, the Gatchaman ones reappeared in Diamond Comic catalog. I suspect that a bunch of the pins must have surfaced somewhere and Diamond got them, though it is possible that Yutaka reissued them. I doubt they were a reissue, though, mostly because there was no noise about them on Japanese fan sites, and they didn't turn up in any Japanese auctions at the time.

There is actually a 6th pin in the set, though a lot of people are unaware of it. It has long been the hardest of the pins to find, and was not included in the offering from Diamond. That pin looks like this:

None of the pins are very large, only about 1" long and 1/2" tall. Being made in Japan for their domestic fan market, there was never any consideration given to including a 7-Zark-7 pin in the series. Sadly, there was no Dr. Nambu pin either.

It was meant to be a short insight into Cronus and Anderson's relationship. But Anderson will not shut up, he keeps going on about the background history of the team; how they were brought into the project, adoption of the selected children, training they have been doing and now medical procedures given to the team.

So now I am left wondering how much I should keep writing and when too much information becomes boring. I think for now, I will write it all down and then I will have a look at it, when Anderson is done revealing secrets to Cronus, and see what I have.

Well, it depends on the story. Does the reader NEED to know this to go on and follow the story? For example, I did the whole exposition thing in the third bit of the fic I started posting this morning. But that's because to really understand what's coming, the reader needd to know all of that.

If the reader DOESN'T need to know, then I'm a fan of a slow reveal, over many scenes. JUST as much as they need to know... Wink

*Cloud thinks, a bad thing* Maybe none of this scene needs to be revealed and I can leave it and move on to the next part.
I like your idea of the slow reveal so, for now, I am writing it all down. I can always save it and reveal it later if a time comes for someone to know this information.

Well, I guess what matters is whether or not the reader understands what is going on in your story. If revealing some of the background would help with that, then do so. If it's not necessary, you can wait.

Sometimes it's also nice to do a slow reveal (little bits at little times) to prevent a big reveal later on. I took that path in the fic I am writing now... I had a character revealing little bits of his motives over time, so that when the moment came for him to act, the reader already kind of understood why he was doing that, without a big explanation.
