Word is getting around that Donald Trump has selected Indiana Governor Mike Pence to be his running mate. This cheers me up quite nicely -- Pence can't run for governor and go for vice president at the same time!
One of the things Pence has done as governor is sign the "Religious Freedom Act" into law. This allows business owners to discriminate against anyone they choose and claim they're "exercising their religious freedom". (Thankfully, New Albany passed a fairness ordinance a few years before this guy was elected, and it overrules the state law.) He's tied to other unpleasant things, but the "Religious Freedom" crap drew the most out-of-state attention.
Now, if Trump is defeated this November, I'll be oh-so tickled!

DT -- Well, yeah, if the VP had much power. Outside of breaking tie votes in the Senate, the only thing a VP does is act as a backup in case the president can't do his job. (The time most often used as an example: when Lyndon Johnson became president after John Kennedy was assassinated.) While I'd rather have Mr. Pence knocked off the political map for a few years, I suppose I could live with him spending the next four years twiddling his thumbs in DC.
And, though there would be some people who'd try to shoot Donald Trump if he became president, that's a lot harder to achieve than when President Kennedy was in office.
