If you're thinking of attending Anime Expo next year, you might be interested to know that AX has announced that Yoshitaka Amano will be a guest at the convention. Mr. Amano is best known here as an artist, and for his work providing designs for Vampire Hunter D novels and the Final Fantasy video game series. Mr. Amano began his career at Tatsunoko, where he provided the designs for guest characters in all three Gatchaman TV series.
Anime Expo will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center next summer from Friday, July 1st to Monday, July 4th.
I was thinking of trying for Comic-Con, but if it's that hard to get into, maybe I should do Anime Expo instead. Flip-flopping back and forth on that now.
We were lucky enough to meet Mr. Amano at Comic Con a few years ago, and he made drawings for us. It was a wonderful experience, and one I will not forget! If anyone is in the area and has a chance to see him, I highly recommend doing so.
Oh God... I love Amano's works. His illustrations for the Story of Prince Genji are amazing. And Angel's Egg - I don't think Angel's Egg, one of the most perfect animated movies I've ever seen and a great influence on me, would be the same without his design. I wish I wasn't almost nine thousand kilometres away from this. I envy you, my American friends.
