I think as long as you don't put stuff on FB that you can't afford to have escape into the wild, you're okay. I totally understand, in particular, why teachers are nervous about their FB personas. Parents and schools are really touchy about what can be found there, like teachers can't be real human beings with interests outside the classroom. For keeping in touch with friends and readers and whatnot it can be a good tool, but it's just a tool. To each their own.
I humbly cry your pardon, sais, I did not mean to offend.
I've "known" quite a few of you for a number of years now, and it was not my intention to speak out of turn. I didn't realize I would cause such a stink, nor did I intend to lose a member of the group over my publicity stunt. It would appear my machine gun mouth has gotten the better of me again...
I never know when to shut my mouth.
I was voted "most likely to be a political prisoner in a foreign country" in high school....
Yes, Jason, BNF is Big Name Fan. Each fandom has there own interpretation of what it means, as does each person. Me, I'm a bit more picky on who I consider a BNF. On this site, you, Brian, and James qualify because of the bigger work you do to promote the universe we like to play in; though, there are probably a few others here that qualify, and bask in the anonymity that screen names offer.
Sometimes I access to my FB account to see what others are doing. I do not post anything on mine, even profile photo is empty. Frankly speaking, I'm afraid of that other people would laugh at me if they notice I clicked "Like" for the Gatchaman fanpage though I think Gatchaman is a masterpiece of the animation history. And I had terrible experiences of similar situation. My father is always checking my FB like list and a friend of mine laughed at me when he found I liked a fan page of a Swedish military metal band. I think the same thing will happen if I like your page.
This site is the only social media I do. In my case, I'm a partial technophobe - I hate cell phones ( I don't want bothered when I'm not at home) and only have one for emergencies. I tried Facebook but can't figure it out. I also know too much about the seedier side of social media and how it is manipulated and used by some for nefarious purposes.
I can't even figure out a remote control - just give me 6 keys ( 2 for on/off, 2 for channel up and down and 2 for volume up and down). I tried to use our new Blue Ray player but having to use 3 remotes - one for the satellite TV, one to control the Blue Ray player and then one for the HDTV to switch it to the Blue Ray player. I screwed up the whole thing. One remote would be enough, please.
I know some people who live on Facebook and even conduct their businesses on it. That'll just never be me.
