Today, I received an acceptance letter from a publication that said they *loved* my short story (flash fiction) and wanted to publish it. It doesn't pay much but I am beyond excited! I've had some success with poetry but this is my first real fiction sale. If I remember, I'll post a link here when it goes up.

Becky, flash fiction is just another term for the shorter short stories. Your mileage may vary - it's defined differently by different publications. But roughly around 500 words - longer than a 100-word drabble, shorter than a short story.
I also like to write microfiction - there's a 25-word contest going on over at Hint Fiction. I haven't submitted to that one yet. But I did enter a tweet-sized short story in Nanoism's recent contest.

Thanks, gals. I read a lot of papers about the mating habits of voles as an undergrad - those in harsh climates pair-bonded, those in easier living environments did not - and I guess it stuck with me.
