This past Monday, there was 3 1/2 inches of snow on the ground (not counting the layer of ice beneath). Today (Saturday), the temperature is near 60 degrees (F), and the sixth ice cream truck has just gone by my place.
Even though part of me is convinced that I'm delusional from my post-op pain killers, I've been asking, "Could it be a sign of -- oh, what's the name for not-winter? -- spring ?

Do get better soon, EW. I hope you'll be running across the mountains in no time.
I've already said it before - you guys stole our winter. We had spring-like weather ever since February, today I've been doing first gardening of the year and next weekend I'm going to start planting. Two months earlier than last year. Strange.

Well, yesterday I had my doubts, being cold, cloudy and generally miserable outside....
but today what a transformation!!! the sun is shining, it's actually warm and I even saw people walking around not only without coats, but some were even in tee-shirts. Unheard of for March in my little corner of Great Britain

We haven't had a brutal winter but the weather has had fun pranking me. I saw little purple crocuses and went oh, spring is coming! Then we got several days' dump of snow. It's mostly gone now but the poor crocuses look pretty trampled.
