Elvin, read up the history of Rodrigues's Concerto de Aranjuez. I think it'll strike a chord, even if the instrument's different.

Me, I tend to like silence. I used to study to music, and a sure sign of a good exam was hearing the music as I wrote, but after working in an office next to the factory floor where and now down here with a noisy computer, I just can't hear the music well enough to enjoy it without concentrating on it, to the exclusion of what I'm doing. So I'm out of the habit.

I know I used to be affected, and sometimes a stray song would take me out of whatever I was doing and give me a glorious little holiday, but not any more.

Back at age 12, playing clarinet, I used to play myself out of a bad mood by starting with music that suited it, and then realizing I was ready for something sprightlier. Then I got the teacher from ... We learned more in one month with our grade eight teacher than his other classes learned in an entire year -- seriously, it was a mixed class -- those of us with two years of band from grade school, and the grade 10s who started with him. One of the older kids couldn't do a concert Bb-major scale on a trumpet -- didn't even know what note to start on.

Ooops, that was a mini-rant. Sorry.

Anyhoo, silence seems the thing at the moment.

I had grand ideas of making the 25 post thing tonight, but I can see I am out of shape and have no stamina left in me...this is hard work!

Ugh...am going for a lie down and a beer...hmm..probably a beer first and then a lie down actually...would make more sense wouldn;t it? Unless there is someone out there who can drink and lie down at the same time?
