Exactly, but in this alternate version it sounds like Joe isn't recruited until he's an adult or at least a late teen, so it tracks that he's more thug-like and not trained. I guess that I try to be liberal in how I look at adaptations of the original. I look for the alternate universe consistency, maybe? Then I get all fussy about how Ken looks, so I'm a total hypocrite, heh heh.
