Hi all!
Two new Gatchaman books have been announced. The first is the 160-page softcover "Gatchaman Anime Archive." This book, published by Shogakukan, will cover Gatchaman, Gatchaman II, Gatchaman Fighter, the Gatchaman OAVs, and Gatchaman Crowds. The description say that it will cover the characters and mecha, include an episode guide for all the episodes of the original three Gatchaman series, and has interviews with Character Designer Yoshitaka Amano and Mecha Designer Kunio Okawara. It will retail for 2,100 yen, and will be released on August 23rd.
The second is the novelization of the live action Gatchaman movie. Written by Masaki Wachi and published by Kadokawa, this book will be released on August 24th, the same day the movie premieres. It retails for 580 yen.
The text in both books will by entirely in Japanese, though it is safe to assume that the Gatchaman Anime Archive will have plenty of pictures to enjoy. The novelization may include some photos from the movie, but will mostly be text.

OK, an update: Amazon.com doesn't seem to have them, and Amazon.jp (man, was that a weird experience! -- I was going by publication dates, as unfortunately I don't speak Japanese, and, trust me, I wish I did!) also doesn't seem to have anything published around that time.
I'll try ebay after their publication but, if anyone has any hints about where to buy the Anime Archive one, let us know!

I see... I've searched for the Gatchaman Anime Archive on Amiami, Hobbylink Japan, japancd and ebay to no avail. It didn't actually occur to me to try the Japanese Amazon. (though Gatchaman Crowrds ost is what I'll be counting my days to. I mean, Iwasaki Taku - I'm so excited! To me, music is a huge factor when it comes to anime. Or anything, really. And Iwasaki Taku!... okay, I'll stop fangirling now. Sorry, everyone. )
