Might be coincidence? The BOTP civvies, since they were the Gatch I civvies, were the fashion of the early 70s, and fashion had changed by the time Gatch II, and this comic were made. If I recall, by about 1980-81, no one at my school wanted to be caught dead in bell bottom pants -everything was straight-legged.
I was thinking that it was more likely that the writers of this comic were given still shots from Gatch II/F, which were being shown around the time this comic was produced.
