Hello all!
quote: | I don't own this but it's very nice. I can't work out whether it's a completed and painted version of the crescent coral kit that was out in the last few years, or something else. |
|
I actually won the auction for this when it was for sale. Since my modelling skills are non-existent, this seemed like a good way to get this kit built-up. And yes, it is ineed a completed version of the Gatchaman Secret Base model that Imai reissued not long before they went out of business.
quote: | I don't own this one either, but it's got to be the maddest toy idea ever. Flying skeleton Ken. Apparently he has a propeller on his bum to make him go. Oh, the indignity... |
|
Another toy I have. The propellor isn't built into the figure, but is instead part of a green plastic backpack that he wears. The battery-powered propellor pack attaches to a string that you're supposed to attach to an overhead light or a ceiling fan, so he can twirl around in a circle. I've also seen a Mazinger Z version of the same toy, but I don't own one of those.
quote: | I think these might be pretty unique... |

The jeans were created by a fashion designer named Han Ahn Soon, and like all designer jeans, were pretty pricey when they came out (Around 10,000 yen apiece). Han Ahn Soon also released a denim jacket and a denim shirt with similar designs on them. There was also a Han Ahn Soon Gatchaman T-shirt with a cute image of Ken and Jun on it.
quote: | I've never seen one of these before. It's quite an odd print too because it seems to have Nambu and an extra child on it too. Just trying to work out whether it's got an episode specific look to it or not. |
|
Some fabric company (I'm unsure who) apparently released several Gatchaman-themed fabrics a year or two back. I've seen the fabric itself sold in pieces a few times, but this is one of the few times I've seen it actually used for sometime. It looks like whoever did the sewing did a very nice job with the robe.
quote: | That's a transparent Banpresto figure. They made a set of about 6 different characters in transparent stuff that they'd already made in opaque plastic (the others were Casshan, Hurricane Polymer and so on, not other Gatch characters). They are rather harder to find than the opaque ones. |
|
The transparent version of the first Yujin figure set was a special release for Wonder Festival in 1997. They can indeed be more challenging to find than the regular full-color versions. As part of the Tatsunoko Hero Collector Box set that Kodansha released in 2000, Yujin did another version of those figures, this time in a transparent black plastic. They're easier to find than the clear versions, but can still be a challenge unless you buy the entire box set!
I hope this helps!
