The June issues of the various Japanese anime magazines have all included at least some mention of Gatchaman Crowds. Information-wise, they really didn't have anything to add to what we've already seen. However, the June issue of Animedia did include a few design drawings of the three lead characters that have yet to appear anywhere else. Here is a copy of their preview of the series with those images.
With the series premiering sometime in July, I'm sure there will be more news and more images from it in the next few weeks.
Thanks for posting, James! I had not seen those pictures in color before! It will be interesting to see how much, if any, resemblance this bears to the original Gatchaman.

Daniella, go to this thread where the topic was discussed and talked about. You were probably absent during this discussion, which is completely understandable, given our busy lives we are all likely to miss some threads. Gatchaman crowds thread

I find the style a little odd with these characters, and the blond and the girl look much younger than they say they are supposed to be (16 and 19?) I'm definitely interested in seeing what they do with this ...just wish they'd use the original characters, though...

Thanks CD! This answers some questions -- and poses others

PS ... Many thanks for the info James!
Marie, I agree. It's not just the characters, but the artwork. It looks like standard anime artwork that could be from any recent anime. If they did this in the style of the original, it would at least be a tie-in when everything else has changed.
I wouldn't have anything against this if this was an unrelated anime, but damn - are there ANY parallels between this and (our) Gatchaman? I fail to see any. I'm going to watch it solely because of the director, whose previous works show that this anime could be pretty decent, or more. (also, character design could be much worse. So far it's pretty good.) I'm not going to watch it as a tie-in/reboot of Gatchaman but as a completely unrelated show along with few others, so hopefully I'll enjoy it this way.

That sounds like the most reasonable piece of advice I have read Victoria. And if I had any chance of seeing this series (I suspect it will not be on any of my standard cable channels) I would watch it with the same attitude you have.

You most certainly will have the chance, clouddancer. From the general consensus on 4chan, I believe this series will have at least a couple of fansubbers doing subtitles for it. You can either check nyaa.eu for torrents or I can post the names of the fansub groups in question later when the first episode airs.

Any help to track down the series would be great, always if possible! Even though I'm honestly not that enthusiastic to watch it, after having taken some first glimpses, I'm always prone to resilience when it comes to something related to Gatchaman!!

You're not the only, Marie. I still haven't watched the new Battlestar Galactica because of what they did to Starbuck. Ironically, if they had done that to any other character, I might not be so picky. I get through the new incarnation of Star Trek only because I can see it as a Mirror universe and the Real Trek universe is still out there somewhere.
I can perfectly understand what you mean, Ame! I'm very picky too when it comes to comparing the new with the original! It happened to me more than once like you're saying, sometimes even totally scrapping an updated series after only a couple of views! Even though there could be those exceptions ... some, which could be also given a chance and be well tolerated by myself, such as Casshern Sins, etc! But this ... I think that even the OAVs themselves are going to have a higher rank in my hall of fandom!
