It seems that as long as the gif, like an avatar image, is 25 kb or less in size, it'll work here as an avatar. However, playing around and experimenting with Adobe Imageready today, I've learned that it's hard to keep a gif that small unless you use few images, that are small and relatively low-res. This one is three images of about 2.5 kb each, all 110x110 pixels.

But six images about 25 kb each, all 220x220 pixels, results in a gif that's 110 kb in size.
