When should I send the Phoenix down to pick you all up to see some real snow and feel the real cold?
Sorry LB and TJ I know you have experienced Canadian winters so you are welcome to stay home if you want.

Heh, in a bizarre way, I enjoyed all those -20 C days in Montreal. When I started grad school in Ohio, the winters were all grey, slushy and dreary, but in Montreal on those cold, cold days, the air was dry instead of damp, there would be a cloudless blue sky and bright sun shining off the glittery snow that squeaked when you walked on it, and the cold air seemed like a zap of electricity that made me feel awake and alive. In Cleveland, Ohio, I couldn't understand why everyone wasn't trying to slit their wrists by February, the winters were so depressing.
Granted, in Montreal I was wearing a heavy wool coat, hat, scarf, gloves (sometimes gloves inside mittens), turtleneck, sweater, heavy pants, long underwear and sometimes two pairs of socks to walk from my apartment to campus...

That is exactly what I love about winter. The clear blue skies, the sun so bright it makes your eyes tear. the cold fresh air invigorating you, running and jumping in the snow and being able to brush it off without getting wet.
And then coming inside with rosy red checks and being able to snuggle up in front of a popping fire with an Eagle to wrap his arms around you while the Condor makes a nice cup of hot chocolate with real whipped cream and marshmallows ... oooops, sorry I guess I got to far into that day dream.

Ahhh... most of the days it's dreary and miserable outside, the sky's all cloudy and dark... however, I do like the night sky better in winter because it's so clear and you can actually see stars for a change...
