I just wanna cry!

Well it started when I got home from my visiting my sister...

You see the story goes like this;

I have been using DH's computer which is inside the house to write my stories because it is closer to the baby, and I can hear her if she needs mum. We have a connection between the mine and his so we can transfer files if it is needed. (mine is located outside the house in my workroom.)

So I would put my finished files from the folder on his desk top into the email drive that links the computers so I could access the stories and if any accidents happened like today...then I didn't lose my story...

WELL...he decided to clean up his desk top and didn't ask about the folder marked "Steph's things" NOOOOOO he just deleted it.

So I go into the office inside the house to do the transfer that I forgot to do earlier today...and

argghhhrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I burst into tears...he had deleted the entire folder! ALL of the work I had in there gone!

But I had my Chrissy story finished and I was going through it for errors etc before posting..GONE!

So now I have to do from Chapter 7 again because that is what I have saved on my computer...

I think I'll go have a Swan cry before I take out my Eagle with a yo-yo bomb...DAMN IT!!!!


Well at least I feel a bit better now that I have it off my chest...

Oh Ebony! Sorry to hear the bad news.

At least you have part of your story, you did not lose everything.

Now are you sure your Eagle did not do it out of jellousy?
Have you been writing about the Condor and Swan instead of the Eagle and the Swan?

Make him change the next nasty 10 diapers at midnight. No one, and I mean no one, could claim "I didn't know it was yours / I didn't think it was important" when the file was label that clearly! (Maybe he's still new-daddy sleep-deprived?)

Here's hoping the recovery works.

BTW, check out Second Copy; you can set it to make the backup every two hours, or before the computer shuts down, or when the moon is green. You can also choose which types of files, and from where, and to where, and all sorts of other neat things. I started using it after a similar (but not as drastic) experience. Combine it with a $25 thumb drive and it's perfect, although I think you might be able to tell it to email the backup as well.

Like others have said, if you are lucky your files will be in the Recycle Bin (unless your DH did a shift-delete and then you will want to check out the program that Cep mentioned).

Here's hoping you can recover the files.

I'm sorry that you lost the folder Ebony, I had something happen like that, but in a lot less of a manor. Too bad that it's after mistakes like that , we learn... In your case it's to post a large note on the computer reminding hubby to not delete Stephs folder. Sending a to calm your . Maybe have hubby sign a so he doesn't do it again.
