This weekend fingers X'd I get to meet my childhood hero, or the actor who played him. WHile all my friends were playing Jedi, I wanted to be an X-wing pilot. I dont know if I was just being perverse but I always thought X-wing pilot was way cooler than Jedi and this was confirmed for me as the EU included comics and books about them.
So hopefully by monday I will have a few signed items and a photo with Wedge Antilles. Squeeee . Its the first ever signing for Denis Lawson, something I never thought would happen as he's always been so disparaging about star wars and its fans actually.
Oh and Cary Elwes AKA Westley from Princess Bride is there as well.

It's Inigo Montoya.
And I don't know what a 'scillion' is, but don't mess with Sicilians. (Especially a certain Condor.)

Doors opened at 9am and I was there at 7am, it was about freezing and by the time the doors opened I was frozen. As it was early I had time to chat when getting the sigs and as I live not far from Haddon hall where PB was filmed, we talked about that and the fact I thought he was english for years.
My fave quote was too long to write, there wasnt enough space so he just put 'as you wish'.
Then I went to get Dennis Lawson's sig but I was so in awe of him I clammed up and just managed to say my name.
I had about 4hrs to kill before my photo sessions so i wandered around the traders and had lunch. First was Cary so I joined the line and fussed my hair and make up, not that it did much good. Eventually it was my turn and as i walked into the room Cary looked over and flashed a lovely smile
"hey its Verity, good to see you again" and he gave me a hug. He's really sweet.
Later I went for the Dennis photo and again could only say thank you and it was all over. He was short though!

The Dread Pirate Robert knows you? Wow, I think I'm jealous! I remember, the first movie I ever saw him in was "Lady Jane" (interested in Tudor history even then) and I thought he was sooo beautiful...
The pics look great -so glad you got to meet Wedge Antilles. I have to say, he's aged a little but then, it's been 33 years (hard to believe it's been the long since the first Star Wars movie).
Like TJ, I can see how excited you are at meeting your heros. I remember how excited Springie was when she was meeting and having her picture taken with "Starbuck" while we were at Comic Con.
Like you I have been waiting for Cep to fix the attach images capability on this site. I really miss it.

Those are great photos, Veritas! Like the others I could see how excited you were! Thanks a lot for your update! I can only imagine having such frequent opportunities to meet such VIPs!!

Heh, so you could tell I was excited? I'm glad the fact I was absolutley terrified doesnt show. Over the years Ive got better at meeting celebs and can now hold a conversation but if its some one Ive got / had a bit of a crush on I go to pieces so quickly I'm suprised there arent any shrapnel casualties.
I think because of the order I saw his films, Princess Bride, Lady Jane and then Dracula I thought for years he was English! I told him that and i felt like an idiot but he said its a compliment, such a gent. I bet in his head he went DUUUUURR.
How exciting! I'm so glad that you got to meet them! I can identify with that nervous feeling! For some reason, though, I was totally at ease (maybe too at ease-LOL) when I met Dirk Benedict!
I would've loved to have met Cary...Princess Bride is an all-time favorite movie of mine!
