In the 1910s, a call was put forth for a design for a monument to honor one of the greatest Americans in History: Abraham Lincoln.

The first stone was laid in 1915. And on May 20, 1922, the Monument we all know was dedicated. About 50,000 attended the ceremony, and nearly 2 million listened on the radio.
