I was wandering around on the Home Of The White Shadow and found this Gatchaman CGI movie. My only thought is, so far, so good.

I'm going to wait before I call any judgement...just not enough to go on. I'd like to see the main characters first. I'm hoping for the best though and it does seem to have alot of potential.

I feel the same way I did back around 1999 when I first heard that the Lord of the Rings movies were going to be made -very excited but also very nervous. The Gatchaman movie could be amazing and wonderful, but it could also be filled with so many things that strike me as WRONG that I might hate it. I wasn't impressed with the 1994 Gatchaman OAV. I agree with Kimiko -the characters are the most important thing. I don't merely want them to look right (ie. look like themselves, not like those strangers in the OAV) but I also want them to be true to their personalities and their relationships with each other as established in the original series. Where clothes, uniforms, vehicles and storylines are concerned, I'm much more open to whatever the writers and animation people come up with, even if it isn't exactly canon.

I agree with both Kimi and Iborgia... Cautious optimism, I call it.

I think the most important thing is keeping the characters and their personalities intact, followed by the main plot points coming across. Though I think if the storyline is changed too much, it's going to be a big turn-off...There is so much potential here, but if it's not done right, it could be a huge disaster.

The only thing with the uniforms, vehicles, etc., is that they better not be too far off the mark! OAV Nambu still scares me, and I don't think I can handle another flying chicken!!!

I think they want to keep it as close to the orignal as possible and they are keeping Utoland and the setting would be right at the beginning of the fight between ISO and Galactor, which may mean possible sequals and/or TV series but since we haven't seen or read much, then I think we are all in agreement, keep our minds open.

It was like that...

I mean I'm an Eagle fan and that Eagle...well he was to clean cut for me...the whole series was rushed.

But they did give Galactor a few more brains...and Jinpei as a computer hacker fitted into the modern world a bit more.

But the changes in uniform especially the Swans...what were they thinking!

I am always nervous about these things. Especially if your favorite character is not how you have them pictured in your mind. Expectations and all that.
The good news is from what I understand Wendy has some input on this so we have a good chance. They did not do a bad job on the Turtles so I have hope.
