Interesting analysis, Dirk! Although as a BOTP fan, I have to say that the one or two episodes where they ended with the Ready Room were far preferable to ending with Zark. 
BOTP never did those episodes simply because they didn't have access to them, and didn't know they existed. Of course, it's up to our imagination to think about what might have happened if Sandy Frank et al (or Fred Ladd et al) had gotten them hands on them.
LBorgia is actually doing a fantastic job of writing up Gatch episodes 102-105 as BOTP episodes. She's not done yet, but I believe she's started posting them on gatchfanfic.com.
