Actually, some of the scenes in Gatch F are very brightly colored. Nambu goes from a pale yellow shirt to a bright lemon-colored shirt.
Yeah, not really an improvement. 
As for updating Nambu's look, Heaven forbid! We might end up with Mr. Formerly-Known-As-Prince-the-Pimp Nambu like in the OAVs!

Oh, it doesn't have to be too radical a change. Just change the color of the jacket to match the slacks, and maybe lose the vest. White shirt.
What were they thinking for the OVA?

BTW, I like that fan pic of Nambu in traditional Japanese garb. Very dignified. Suits him.
But I never found those pics that had folks -- unnerved.
