Hi all!

I meant the actual video, not a video of the video. Something nice and clean.

I wondered if that was what you meant. You said it much clearer than I did though.

You are correct, it is interesting that that has not come to life (light) yet.

The music does sound like something that I ought to recognize, but I can't place it either.

That twitch link is very handy! Lots of clips in one place.

That is what I liked about the site as well.

Thank you so much for posting this, Fangjoker! I like this trailer much better, and if this were actually being released, I would be so excited!!!! In any case, I'm crossing my fingers for an Imagi re-org, but don't know how likely that it.

Still, I *really* appreciate the updates! Thank you! Bowdown

Late to the party here, but yeah the teaser does look good. I thought some of the movement looked a wee bit stiff (namely when they're jumpiong off the building to dive), but otherwise good (I like the character models) Hope this project can see the light of day eventually.

Our prayers must've been heard, coz I just came across the site a few days ago and Imagi's back from the grave and is currently resuming production of the Gatchaman film.

Yes...I am trying to be optimistic about the movie's chances...but I know that we could very easily be let down again. They do seem like they are determined to finish the movie, though... Inverted1

The harried head of Imagi glowered at the young man hovering in the doorway. "What is it, now?"

"Sir, there's a bunch of ladies -- and a couple of men -- here who want to speak to you about the Gatchaman movie."

(Japanese equivalent of 'Oh, dear God, why me?' uttered.)

"Actually, their ideas are pretty good, sir."

(More Japanese wibbling.)

"Sir, they aren't going away. And one of them is talking about sharp pointy things."

"Will they go away if I talk to them?"

"There's a good chance of it."

"Very well."

Two hours later:
Maddy - We're writing the script!? (Starts panicking.)
UW - My brain just froze up. All the ideas went bye-bye.
Tatsunokofan - We did it to ourselves.
(Group wibbles follow, after which pens and paper are purchased, laptops warmed up, and TB, Springie, and the other artists are given art supplies. Local food delivery places are made very happy. People passing by the room hear giggles, arguments, exclamations of various sorts.)

From Imagi`s press release (June 21, 2011):
• Excluding the accounting losses due to the redemption of prints and advertising loan, a
bridge loan and convertible loan notes, the loss for the year was significantly narrowed
down by 89.9% to HK$122.2 million, of which HK$81.2 million was attributable to the
provision for impairment loss relating to Astro Boy and Gatchaman
• The Restructuring commenced in May 2010 (including the above-mentioned provision)
wiped the Group’s past slate clean. Astro Boy and Gatchaman will no longer have any
adverse financial effect on the Group beyond last financial year.

I hate vague announcements. I wonder if that means Gatchaman is still in the works or done for?

I would love to see a Gatchaman movie. I have sort of followed it. I'm learning a lot just by reading this thread.

In the end I suppose that the Gatchaman movie has a better chance than Quantum Leap. chips

Dragonsbain I believe at the moment the Quantum Leap movie is on track to be released early next year.

Where as Gatchaman is not even in the works. Thus, I believe QL has a better chance of existing than Gatchaman.

Thank you for posting this Yul. I just wish I could feel some enthusiasm about this news, but am very uncertain of the exact meaning of this story.

I'm not certain what it means either. What financial/impairment losses due to Gatchaman? Do they mean the money they spent on test footage and development personnel? That's not a loss... that's R&D, and should have been expensed ages ago. 'Impairment' makes it sound like they were categorizing the Gatchaman rights as an asset and they have reduced the value of that asset. I'm not sure why they would do this (either holding the rights as an asset to begin with, or reducing the value of those rights if they did).

Now an impairment loss on AstroBoy makes sense, because that movie was released and is done... meaning that if they had the rights to Astroboy as an asset, whatever value that asset was going to bring has already been obtained.

Sorry... it's the accountant in me, you know... Dazzed

Thank you TJ, that might explain some of the misunderstanding and the rest ... well, I wonder if it is a poor (or sloppy) translation problem. And the impairment loss is meant to apply to the Astroboy movie.

I guess there would be "some" loss on the Gatchaman movie since there had been people hired to work on the writing, and developing of the storyline (along with several different directors) who all would have been paid some salary while they worked. If Imagi feels the need to start from the beginning again then all that time and money would be considered a "loss."
