Maybe if Cep adds a Rover clan, the Zark count would go down!

I don't think that would happen Amy but I could imagine a few people might decide to switch over to Rover from other clans.

Ahhhh, maybe not.

I was hoping the Zarkers might switch to Rover. I really like Rover. He's a smart robopuppy with the fortune to be around Tincan all the time. So when you think of Rover, Zark is authomatically in the picture!

Actually, /I/ can think of Rover without the tincan being around, but that is because Rover /is/ in my Universe, where as Zark is not --- so to speak. But I can see how many other people can, and would, connect the two.

My Phoenix Foundation does have an Automated Computerized System, that responds, from anywhere in the building, to voiced questions when called upon, but it is not mobile. At this point I have not given this system a "proper" name. Although I am wondering if I can come up with some acronym that ZARK could stand for.

Yup, it's hard to find derogatives starting with Z and K!
Maybe that's what Sandy Frank had in mind when named Zark!

That would work in German!

Yes! For a while the characters would call out "Computer" to get the systems attention before asking their question. Then for a while I changed that to Melissa, but that got dropped. Especially after the Foundation was destroyed and a new building and system had to be rebuilt (Although the AI chips were saved.) Now as I say I have trying to find a play on Zark's name.

Ooooo, I like where this is going ... I should have tried asking this question much earlier.

I am not sure if I would consider it "zone-specific" though. Although your zone specific and my idea of zone specific may be different. I think of it as meaning in only specific areas. In my AU this computer can pick up conversations/questions from any area in the building. I guess it is zone specific to the building though - so it MIGHT work.

Sorry Amy but in my AU if I use ZARK it would not be derogatory. This is not an invasive system like Zark is in BOTP.

I hope you use just the acronym, not the robot! Perhaps just as an conversation subject !

Princess: "Ohh, do you remember poor Zark? He got smashed to smithereens in that Spectran attack!"

Joe:"Don't worry Princess, this new system is much better!"

I never really thought about it, but in my AU Zark as a robot does not exist at all. So how that relates to the BOTP eps. that we watched as children I do not know. The events of the series happened, with some changes brought about by incorrect memories, but not with Zark's annoying commentary. So your suggestion would not really fit into my AU Amy.

I think having Zark completely non-existent would be much preferred over having him destroyed.

I agree... Zark in an AU provides a welcome opportunity to 'tone him down' and take away his 'personality'.

So there won't be a Zark trauma! Is still Rover there ? The Computer that controls the base in your AU has an emotional side like Zark had (mimicing human behaviour)or it's strictly business?

I guess it is strictly business. Although I think of it as a "personality" it really is not used other than to advise, inform or locate. It does not take over or have its own story line (like Zark does) it is just there.

As for Rover, I have already said in a previous post that he exists. I see him running around a little like we see those robots go zipping past in Star Wars, perhaps carrying messages etc.
