When we're all rocking on our porches we'll have Amy to run around and laugh at us... Big Grin

Age is a state of mind. I try to have a balanced outlook on life. I embrace growing older with each passing year but I try to stay in touch to some of the things that bring joy to my heart since I was a kid.

So in other words, you'll find me watching Gatchaman while yelling at the kids to get off my lawn. *grin*

I'm with you, Tim! I may love my various escapist entertainments (Gatchaman, Transformers, Star Wars, action figures, etc.), and enjoy joking around here and there when I feel it's appropriate, but I also prefer to carry myself in a semi-mature manner underneith it all. It seems like most people in the various fandoms I follow are either waaaaaay too snobby/judgemental, or are incredibly immature. Fortunately the Gatchaman fanbase is generally older, so they tend to be more level-headed. But the Transformers fandom?? Forget it! If you read their message boards, it's full of 20-somethings that imply that when they're not playing with toy robots, they're out getting piss drunk till 4am in the morning. Not a fan of party animals, especially when said party animals put down people that DON'T drink and act like asses out in public.

*gets off his soap box*

Ladies, if it makes you feel better 19 is considered an oldie here. So I'm from the older crowd too!

Ah well I, like any kid, used to find the grown-ups weird! And look at me now!Crying2

Well I had an unusual day yesterday. I was debating whether to post it here or in the "Shared Joy" thread...but it fits in here with the "age relative" thing.

Firstly went shopping...didn't get the "exact" camera advertized in the flyer...(of course we never got any in)...but got a SONY DSC-W35KITH...7.2Megapixel, rechargable battery/charger, cables, software, 1GB Memory stick and carrying case. Still can't figure out what the difference is other than the one advertized was DSC-W55 and got it for the sale price! woohoo

No sooner did I get the new toy home and pull it out of the bag...the hubby grabs and makes off with it! And the stupid questions start coming out of him...How do I do ... Rtfm

"Quick show me your tits!"..."Not until I figure out how to delete stuff first!" or for that matter how to turn the damn thing on! So he's running around tormenting the furchildren with the flash!

Also went to the nieces and nephews' school fall fair. Now this is a very small public school and it was packed! They really went all out! Crafts and silent auctions (got out bidded by an 8year old for the 1st season of Lost DVDs...grrr..lol)...a book fair for the library, a full done Haunted House, and a reptile show...snakes and lizards...and food everywhere..the grade 6 kids ran their own cafe even had a Maitre D' to seat us! Pizza, chili, candied apples, popcorn, cotton candy, all sorts of home made goodies, a hotdog/sausage cart...the only thing missing was the beer tent!

So kudos to the students and teachers at Tom Thompson public school in Burlington! I hope they raised their targeted $$$.

So to top off the day...mum decided she had to stop at the bank, (she and my sister actually got some xmas shopping done early and with my extra discount!) which happened to be near by "Conspiracy Comics"...so you know where I went while she was in line for the machine! Couldn't see any Gatch stuff displayed so I asked the shop-keeper who pointed me to a clearance bin hidden away underneath a display. I was immediately joined by 2 young 13-14 ish girls and went on a grabbing rampage through the titles! Talk about an instant link with the youth and oddly enough...no males present. I remember a time when it seemed that I was the only female in said shops.

So we had our mini drool fest and discussion of our collections, but I couldn't see any Gatch and they actually shared in my dismay! *sniff* Brought a tear to my eye! Oh wait!... what's this out of the corner of my eye...way at the back...AHA! SUCCESS!!! GATCHAMAN BOX SET #5! for $30! I was never so happy to see the green goons sneering at me!

So we all did the happy Snoopy Dance including the shopkeeper who offered to hunt around for me to finish off my collection! So all and all it was a very happy day for me!
