Btw, my elder niece just spent a week in the hospital with a serious kidney infection, took all that time to get her fever down. She finally got released. Ugh. (She's a freshman in university so she's away from home too.)

Tell the Fates to go bother someone else. You'd had more than your share of things, CW. I'm glad your niece is out of the hospital.

Amen ... though I don't want to wish this bad health luck on other people either.

Hmm, if there is it's pretty powerful, given that my family is spread over a border and across a continent.

So my dad has had his 2nd gall bladder attack. They haven't wanted to remove it since his diabetes makes him a terrible healer, and with liver cancer he's got enough problems, but he's also got air bubbles in his intestines or something and so might have a perforation. He's put his foot down and said to take the gall bladder anyway as he doesn't want to live his life on pain meds. I don't blame him.
Surgery is Thurs morning and they'll try to check out the intestinal thing at the same time I think. He has the feeling he'll be in the hospital for quite a while. I'm telling himself that would at least mean he makes it through the surgery.
Whee.

Oh dear- Chris, I'm not sure if this will help, but my mom has Diabetes and she had her gall bladder out last year. She did pretty well, and she is feeling better now. I hope your dad heals quicker than you think and gets some much needed relief. *hugs*

I'm diabetic too and don't have much trouble healing. My dad's another story. A surgical thing took 2 years to heal once. Spent a lot of time going to a wound centre.
It's not like that all the time, though. Crossing fingers.

TheOtherJason went through something similar last year. He's still recovering, but making significant progress. I'm sure your Dad will recover from this as well.

They were able to do the surgery laprascopically so that's good. Took extra time due to scar tissue but he came through okay.
