Continuing in the same story as the previous panel... Tiny was on his way to a wrestling match. And guess who wins?

This whole storyline smacks of Gallack X (the challenger is Spectran and not quite all he seems). But of course the ridiculous thing is the GF on Tiny's chest, and that they loudly announce that he's fron G-Force! Unbelievable!

I noticed the announcement that Tiny is from G-force. Way to keep your identity secret!

I wonder if they are trying to show Spectra being even "denser" than they were in the show.

Nice outfit and blond hair for Tiny! What were these artists smoking? LOL

And we all know that wrestling is scripted. Which the writers apparently did not know.

Maybe the different hair colors are disguises.

Yikes, I know BOTP sometimes played a little fast and loose with it, but these comics completely chucked the whole superhero 'secret identity' thing, didn't they? Laugh1 Hey there, announcer, you forget to tell the universe that his last name is "Harper"!

And the manager/trainer there does look like he could be Zoltar in disguise! Has the right hair color, at any rate...

Posted by Transmute Jun on 12-05-2011 at 13:20:

I never thought of the hair color as being disguises.... as it is, Mark's hair color changes occasionally, and so does Keyop's. And Keyop's shirt sometimes changes to a bright blue (instead of bright fuschia).

Yes, Gold Key always put forth laughable adaptations. The Enterprise in Star Trek was drawn with fire and smoke shooting out of its warp nacelles because, apparently, starships are rocket propelled! I recall a Dark Shadows comic book where vampire Barnabas Collins was flying with his cape and cane like a superhero. And of course, Battle of the Planets. I was always puzzled by the weird drawings and oddball colors used for my favorite characters back when I was a child. The entire team had on the wrong colors, among other oddities.

You got it, Solar Sailor! It's so funny to see these now!

I never saw these comics as a kid Frown because I grew up in Canada, and while I looked, I ever found any BOTP merchandise there. I know I would have been begging my parents for it if I had discovered some!

Barbarians!!!!
how dare they portray my wonderful Owl like (well he lookes like a Jelly Baby), maybe if this were a Sumo wrestling contest it may have worked.

out of curiosity would he be allowed to enter the contest especially since he has an unfair advantage with the implants?

I am guessing I got my one or two issues at the store, but I can't clearly recall. What I do recall is being frustrated over how badly drawn it was. I was a HUGE fan of Battle of the Planets back then, and even as an 8 year old it was obvious that these artists and writers didn't get the show. The adventures were sort of fun, but they didn't hold a candle to even my least favorite episodes. I believe the issue I had (maybe number 5) had to do with a jungle and some robot plants or something.

Anyhow, like you, there was really no BOTP material available for us other than an occasional comic book or maybe a lunch box. Had there been, I'd have been begging for it as well. As it stands, I was a creative little boy and would make construction paper wings and tape them on to whatever figure I had and pretend. I used Star Wars, Buck Rogers, and The Black Hole figures for G-Force! I would make the Phoenix out of Legos, or once I even made a cardboard one that I colored with kids paint. It was cool back then, though we may all laugh at it now if it were possible to see it again. I remember, I even had a die-cast metal Shogun Warrior who reminded me a lot of Zoltar! Ah, those were the days!

Sadly, I don't see kids using their imaginations like that anymore. Using your imagination was the absolute BEST! It was so much fun!

Buck Rogers!!!Elfeek2

Oh! that brings back memories and the Robot Twiki.

I remember jumping of the tractor and chook shed with a sheet tie around my neck trying to fly and hooning around on the ride on mower with the dog on the back pretending to be a trucker like B.J and the bear.
Do you remember Voyagers (1982-1983)with Jon-Erik Hexum, he had a device called on Omni that helped him travel through time, it was like a entertaining history show
I vaguely remember wanting to marry either BJ or Jon-Erik when I grew up (their lives seemed so much more exiting than my own)

and my evil villain was a Cockatoo called Godrey who use to hid under our bed and bite the back of our feet, then chase us up the hall wings extended screeching and laughing at us (the previous owner was so please, he'd spent years trying to teach that bird to talk)

I quite agree there Solar Sailor, but I think the biggest problem is the parents who do not allow the children to use their imaginations. These parents feel they have to give their children everything or always supply the latest video game or DVD instead of letting them go and play on their own.

On the other hand, I went outside last weekend to do some gardening and my neighbour was packing his truck for a weekend trip, he had his two grandsons over. They had bought a new electric toy car for the boys to ride in. But what were they doing? Playing "airplane" with the box the toy came out of. He walked away shaking his head. I thought it was great to see! And then imagined a young Eagle or Condor doing such a thing.

Buck Rogers, Wonder Woman, Battlestar Galactica, The Incredible Hulk, The Six Million Dollar man...those were the days for TV! I had a lot of the figures and such, but not many playsets for them. I would build my own bases and create my own stories, sometimes in the correct universe and sometimes using my figures for other ideas...like Battle of the Planets for instance. I drew a picture of the Luminous One on paper, colored it, cut it out and taped it to the inside of a frisbee and propped it up on the wall. Tada, it was all I needed!

I remember debating whether Zoltar was a girl when I was in 3rd grade with a friend of mine who also loved the show. The Alien Bigfoot episode was disturbing to me. I mean, Zoltar might be a girl?????? It was a scary thought. I didn't know what to think! That was too far out there for my naive little mind. How funny, knowing what we know now!

Sounds like there is hope yet!!

LOL, I remember taking my dolls out to the backyard and doing 'outdoor scenes' in the grass and on rocks. My brother did this with his Star Wars action figures too.

Okay, time for another image...

Something has happened to Princess! Strangely, Jason's not more concerned about what has happened to everyone's hair color and civilian attire.

And WTH is the Jetmobile?????

Try again, Becky. I saw it.

Mark is still blond, Keyop is wearing a pink #4 shirt, and Jason has black hair and black T-shirt.

Princess is in trouble, and it's off to the 'Jetmobile.'

It's good now. My husband was streaming the practice at Indianapolis earlier and he screwed up some of my settings.

Hmmmm, are we to assume the Jetmobile is the Phoenix?
And maybe in another frame it is explains, but how do they know Princess is in trouble? None of them are wearing a communication device. (Well we can not see one anyways.)
