Take that Imperial or Super Star Destroyers in the Star Wars films. Too big and slow and the turbolaseers to take out capital ships like other Star Destroyers but are defenseless from small craft like the X, Y, B and A wing fighters which would do damage to it, though in saying that, the Star Destroyer does have a complement of TIE fighters to defend it from small craft.

Star Destroyer

Wait a sec, I thought these had shields!

Like all sci-fi films and TV shows, they the shields sometimes don't always work perfectly and until the director wants a ship to be blown up or damaged, then the shields go down for those seconds.

For example, in The Return Of The Jedi, a A wing manged to blast the shield generators of the Super Class Destoryer, which is a bit odd because surely the shields would cover the generators as well.

Any weapon or vehicle you come up with, then someone will come up with a counter measure to either confuse the weapon or technogolgy on a vehicle such as a plane or a way to take it out.

Star Destroyer

Let him try Met!

But Amy, that's the way how technolgy in warfare works. One person has a weapon and the other person has a way to counter that weapon and makes their own weapon and then first person counters that and it just carries on and is proven throughout history with all the technology of weapons and vehicles from the first stone axes.

And in BOTP, Spectre with all it's hidden bases couldn't really hide from Zark and Susan who can detect Spectre ships and all those Spectre vehicles that get blown apart by those UN planes that were flown by human pilots unlike those UN remote controlled planes that get blown up by the Spetre Mechs.

I think that what Ebony means.

With that kind of technology to make a killing machine like the Terminator which gets squashed by a simple waitress and then gets melted down in a furnace and gets destroyed by another Terminator via a faulty power pack at the end of Termoinator 3, then not wonder Skynet just can't kill both Sarah and John Connor.

So in that round technology loses yet again.

Yea know, speaking of techs and brains, I always wondered what would happen if you get a virus in the Borg's main frame! That should cause them ...a system failure! It worked the trick in Independance Day, and these ETs had a waaay more advanced technology than ours!

They tried to do that, and backed out at the last second. But then Hugh's individual personality infected the Borg in a way they hadn't been anticipating, acting as a virus all on its own.

And also in the two parter The Best Of Both Worlds (probably the best episodes in the series) the Borg cube ship over Earth was sent a message by Data, which made the drones into sleep time and then they tried to regnerate or something like that but instead just self-destructed.

True, but that was a command function, rather than a virus.
