So springie give some examples of Jinpei type stuff that your son does?

Hmmmm...let's see...everywhere we went on vacation he wanted to find, and keep a creature of some sort...crabs, lizards, caterpillars...and this summer...he spent many a day capturing frogs, lizards, grasshoppers, butterflies...
poor creatures didn't stand a chance...but I did finally talk him into releasing them!
There's no telling what he'l find...and try to drag into the house next! Now I know how Jun felt about the beetle!!
He says what is on his mind, too...he's a pistol...mommy has to pull back the reigns on him quite a bit. He has a great sense of humor, too...keeps me laughing. Typical boy...kinda like Dennis the Menace, too...LOL

And don't forget to messy hair! He definitely reminded me of Jinpei a few times with the messy hair. And his grin a million miles wide!
And he loves to go fishing... with his Dad though, not a Ryu wannabe. And from what I could tell, he resented being asked to clean up...
I don't suppose he drives a dune buggy, does he, Springie?

You make some good points, TJ...LOL about the messy hair and grin!! He is such a Jinpei!!

Oh Kimi.... better watch out if you ever have kids. They have ways of making you pay for your own childhood antics...

I'm living vicariously through my little sister right now, she has 2 girls and a boy. I baby-sat for her for a week while my parents went out west for a funeral. I don't know how she does it! I was exhausted by the time she got home from work! To this day I can't stand watching anything on the "Treehouse Channel"! I tried to convert them to "Auntie's cartoons", but alas to no avail and much to my dismay! I will attempt again when their attention spans are bigger than that of a flea's.
The Condor in me had to come out a couple times, but otherwise they're pretty well-behaved kids. They just have way more energy and their own little personalities which clashed when Auntie's MIGRAINES acted up one day. Lunchtime was the biggest hassle. They'll eat anything but...it has to be prepared properly! They're blantantly honest when it comes to critiqueing my cooking (Mommy makes it better.. talk about twisting the knife in! You'd think they'd been watching "Hell's Kitchen"!) and I needed a "kidspeak" thesaurus for cooking terms...
"I want eggs for lunch please.", means "scrambled" for the boy (which half of it is going to end up on the floor or anywhere but inside his stomach). For the elder girl it means "dippin' eggs" which means "over easy" so she can dip her toast (crustless I might add) in them. Most of it ends up in her stomach (some through a less than direct route..ie her hair and that handy "Easy Ups" storage container in her pants).
Both are very eager to help themselves and get their own drinks which means I have to wash the floor, go buy more milk, and figure out how to get the grape Kool-Aid stain out of the cat's fur! The second day I brought my dog with me to help with the clean up, only she got beaten up by the punk rock cat.
The youngest is the easiest -bottle...she just wanted to be held all the time or play "hide the suckie" with me.
I don't know how you ladies do it!

I understand Kimi!
I'm finding out now what mum's do all day! I am finding out lots about babies!

Yeah, I hate to say it, but I'm part of that OLDer crowd too.... sigh....

Hey! Age is just a number! I still feel like a kid...so I am still a kid, right? At least, my kids and my students give me a good excuse to ACT like a kid...

This crowd isn't 'OLDer'. 'ODDer' maybe but definitely not older.
Age is a state of mind. I try to have a balanced outlook on life. I embrace growing older with each passing year but I try to stay in touch to some of the things that bring joy to my heart since I was a kid.
So in other words, you'll find me watching Gatchaman while yelling at the kids to get off my lawn. *grin*
