Thank you! I wondered if I was the only one and was projecting that arrogant, egotistical personality that Lex has onto RI, but as I think about it more, RI is portrayed that way as well.

He looks good bald. That's frightening.

I wouldn't say he looks *good*... but he looks *better*. Still frightening, though!

I didn't think of Lex Luthor -but it really fits, with the white suit!

Fiddling with Dr. Nambu's hair now...

No hair.

No hair or mustache.

Amusing myself by giving him Joe's hair -and it suits him rather well, I think! Laugh1

Even more disturbingly Joe-like...

Posted by clouddancer on 23-06-2011 at 02:15:

Ohhh, wow.
That now makes me consider Nambu as being Joe's father while RI is Ken's. It also prickles of a plot bunny with Nambu and Kentaro as best friends fighting Galactor and then training/"enlisting" their own sons to continue the fight as the two men age and can no longer continue at the extreme levels required.

Oh wow, that is a plot bunny! Just imagine Joe finding out that Giuseppe Asakura wasn't actually his father, and that Dr. Nambu is...

Somewhere on Gatchfanfic is that very story, LB. I cannot remember the title or author. Joe is not pleased to learn that Nambu is his father. Dangerously not pleased.

(There's also one in which RI is actually Joe's father, and again I can't recall the title or author.)

CD, you're right! Now that I'm thinking I remember my mind trying to tell me something and matching the bald RI with someone else! It must have been with Lex Luthor!

Again, IMO, a bald Dr. Nambu is quite disturbing, and even somewhat effeminate, maybe because of how he's holding his hand!

Nambu pulls off well Joe's hair look though! Maybe there's really some kind of truth in the mentioned plot bunny, taking into consideration the possibility of Dr. Nambu being Joe's father! UW, I too remember reading a fic in which RI was Joe's father, but which title I also cannot recall! It would be interesting to read the one where Joe found out who Nambu really was!

Actually, I was thinking that mustache-less Nambu looked more like Ken. His features are more delicate, while Joe's are more angular.

But he does look good with Joe's hair, and a million times better without the mustache! thumbsup2

Yes to both stories. I beieve the one where Joe finds out Nambu is his father was written by Jane Lebak. I have to go look up the name. There were two stories where Joe is Kentaro's son. One is called Classified - can't remember the author - WARNING - that story has rape in it. The other had Joe suffering a heart attack due to a Galactor drug. While in limbo between life and death the ghosts of his mother and Kentaro tell him Kentaro was his father. Again, I can't remember the title.

The story by Jane is Thinner Than Water.

Thank you Becky for giving us the title.

Thanks Becky. I think I remember reading Jane's story. If it ends with Joe waiting on Nambu's desk. Powerful ending.

Gosh, somehow I'd forgotten all about that one -shakes head...- but I just reread it, possibly for the first time since 2007 though.

Powerful indeed. Though I can see Joe being very angry about being deceived all his life, but not angry enough to actually kill.
One the other hand, I've always been a bit surprised that Ken wasn't openly resentful towards Dr. Nambu for having known the truth about Ken's father all along but keeping Ken totally in the dark.

In my mind, thinking about Nambu-as-Joe's-father a couple days ago, I was seeing it as a case of both Giuseppe and Catarina being foster/adoptive parents, and that Joe's mother would be... well, someone else. Heck, men can be fathers and not necessarily even know about it!

I used this cap, from ep. 68, where he's really Katse-disguised-as-Nambu and Ken has just thrown his boomerang at him. It saves time if I don't have to deal with drawing/fixing an ear! ;-)

Oddly, the Ken hair works in that bottom pic.

And I can't remember her name, but there is an author who focuses more on Anderson than the team. She had Anderson as Mark's father. (There does seem more resemblance between G1 and the boss than G1 and Big Red.)

I like the idea that if Cronus is Mark's father then Anderson could be Jason's father. It would explain some of the tension between them and why Jason always feels like he needs to prove himself.
