Gorgeous pics Gatchamarie!

What is the first one of? An ancient site of some sort. And the last one looks so peaceful. I almost wish I could teleport my self there right now.

Thanks a lot to all! The first picture is of the "Ggantija Temples", its name coming from the word "Gigantic" as they are Megalithic Temples built from large rocks. These are the earliest Temples found in Malta (as we have many others scattered around the islands), built during the Neolithic age about 3,600BC, that is more than 5,500 years ago! They are also thought to have been built as a site of fertility cult. These temples are found in Gozo, the second island of the archipelago of Malta, the latter seen in the second satellite image (don't get tricked with the size of our islands from this pic as they are very, very smaller!).

The third pic is that of our capital city, Valletta, and its fortifications TJ. This picture is presumed to be taken from Senglea, one of the oldest Maltese cities just across.

The fourth pic is the "Azure Window" which is an arch formed naturally and which is found in the small village of Dwejra in Gozo. Last week we took our children for the first time on a small boat trip just there where they take you just in between the rocks! We were afraid that our two kids of 5 and 3 years would be scared during a trip on a small boat in open sea but all went ok and they behaved super! It does become a bit scary when the sea is rough though! This site is also renowned for scuba diving. If you come to Malta, a visit to Gozo is a must, I assure you!

Hope I helped you with this info and thanks again!

Sounds wonderful Gatchamarie. I know I would love to visit those temples. The historical past has always interested me.

I have always thought it would be fun to have a time machine to go and visit some of those ancient temples when they were in use. Or some of those castles in Europe or.... so many places when they were "alive." Just to get the experience of what they were like.
