That's good news, Victoria, that she takes her med without a fuss. Its not fun fighting a cat that has sharp teeth and claws to take their meds - how is your hand where she clawed you, by the way?

Today she spent the day strolling through the house. When I was working in the garden, I took her there to get some fresh air. She spent most of the time lying on the curb (picture related). When I took her back in the attic, she made a little kitty-loaf by lying on her stomach and tucking her paws under her chest, but as soon as I started to listen to Scott Walker's older albums, she sprawled out on her side, and started to clean her front paws. I just wish she drank a bit more, as we have a heat-wave over here (even though Liberec is usually one of the coldest places in Czech republic, thanks God).

My hand is fine. The index-finger joint still hurts a bit and several layers of skin peeled off where my palm was badly swollen, but now one can hardly see where it was. Quite a difference from last week at the vet's office, when I awkwardly tried not to bleed on the floor while wiping my eyes on a crumbling ball of a paper tissue.

Oh, she's a pretty thing! I'm glad she's kicking back and enjoying herself.

Aw what a pretty kitty! We've been having a heat wave here too and it's finally cooling off, thankfully. We've been taking shorter walks so we won't give the dog heat stroke, and DH keeps trying to get the dog to drink when we pass by this little stream, and she never does. I try to tell him that she knows if she needs water or not. Trust that your kitten knows the same. Smile Just make sure it's available.

She is soooo cute!!! Flowers in your garden are beautiful.
She is very lucky to be picked up by you from the shelter.

she is adorable, Victoria. You are both lucky to have each other, and it does sound as if she is on her way to making a full recovery.

Glad your hand has improved significantly too. Smile

She is lovely, Victoria. My son is severely allergic to animal fur. I miss not having a dog or cat.

We went to see the vet today. Apparently she looks a little bit better, but he's worried because she lost some weight. Might be the heat or the meds, who knows. He lowered the dose of one of her pills and next week she'll have another x-ray screening done. If her lungs haven't improved by then, she'll have to have a biopsy, which will involve full anaesthesia and a big needle. I'm worried because she keeps looking kind of dejected. She's allowed to go out now, so hopefully that'll raise her spirits a bit.

If she's feeling fatigued from being sick or from difficulty breathing, that could easily be why she looks dejected.

Looks like she's gotten worse again. I have a difficulty getting any food in her.

Oh no. Frown Try making it as stinky as possible? (that can mean heating it up) I understand that if a cat's nose is stopped up and it can't really smell the food then it won't eat it ...

Hang in there.

Saying prayers for your kitty that she'll soon get well. So hard seeing a furry friend/baby get sick. Hang in there. I got bit quite a lot when I was a vet tech 20 yrs ago, if you have epson salts available they are the best soaks for bites. Cat bites can get affected really quickly. I hope your hand and your kitty's health are all better real soon. Pretty pic of your baby girl. Smile

Unfortunately this second bout was too much for her already weakened body. When I returned home from work this morning, I found her passed away. I dug a grave for her next to the garden, under the birch tree where birds fly a lot and buried her in my favourite shirt with her toys and bowls and things. I prayed for her every night, but even though it didn't help, I hope she is somewhere better now. I'm not getting any new cat ever again. My brother died three years ago, my first cat disappeared in January, my father passed away in April, and now Chaika went, not even a fully adult cat. I still have my three other fishes, Potemkin, Kursk and Karelia (their friend Aurora died in May), and this is how it'll stay. I'll just stick to my garden, where the flowers die but not really. I'm just so tired of this all. Everyone, have my heartfelt thanks for all your support. You really helped me out and I'm really grateful to have friends like you.

So sorry Victoria, I know you did everything you could to help and care for her but now I hope you can take some small comfort knowing she is no longer suffering. Huggles

I'm so sorry, Victoria. At least her short time on earth was spent with a human who cared so much.

If there is one thing I'm sure of, it's this: there is a Heaven that all pets go when they leave this miserable world. They spend their time playing with other pets in big, open spaces where the sun is always shining. And the only time they stop is to go greet a newly arrived human who loved and treated animals properly.

I'm so sorry for your losses. All of them! She must have had some underlying condition that was keeping her from getting better. I know it's small comfort but at least she knew love before she went. She had a loving person in her life who showed her affection and gave her a good home. In her last days she got to be in a garden, smell the wonderful outdoors, hear the birds and feel the sun on her face. There are a lot of kitties that never get that much. Believe me I know you are hurting now but please don' t give up on having a cat. Take it from someone who has been through it-somewhere out there is a special kitty for you and when the time is right she/he will come into your life and bring you so much joy! Not now but later when the special one comes along love him/her in Chaika's memory. I've lost many special kitties over the years. Sorry for the long post and if I sound preachy. Big hugs to you. Huggles

Hugs Victoria!

Nothing replaces a missing friend... though knowing your kitty had a caring and loving home will hopefully keep the good memories fresh for a very long time
