Another part that makes Jun look desperate comes at the very end of the movie, after the last battle. I guess Ken thinks they are going to die, so he turns to Jun and says:

So after they make it out alive, Jun says:

Jinpei replies:

Ken says:

It looks like Jun has Ryu's support, because he says:

Jun is thrilled- sure, she's so desperate, she'll take it:

Springie, I am LOL at your comments! It's like being there watching it with you!

I find some solace in the fact that the Japanese fans took umbrage at Jun's desperateness. Smile

That is very funny at times, sad at others.

I haven't ordered a copy yet. I'm no sure I want to yet.

I also would have liked them to stay more with the original. I still can't get used to Joe being Asian.

I've watched it in Japanese, and though it was okay. Despite knowing now that it's going to involve some disappointment, I do want to see a subbed version at some point.

Thanks for the reviews!

I think they weakened Jun's character a bit by making her openly chase Ken. I actually liked Ryu's portrayal...he was stronger and still the "gentle giant". I think he outshone Ken and George a bit.

I can recall a couple episodes where her feelings for Ken were played for laughs -but it would only be a case of Jinpei teasing her, and her shushing him with a frown, or bopping him on the head.

I wonder if it was a case, in the movie, of her getting saddled with comic relief duty, instead of Ryu? He was the one who usually had to suffer loss of dignity...

Joe tended to go from one extreme to another. From emotionless to overacting in 0.2 seconds.

I was at least relieved the writers didn't seem to be trying to turn him into some kind of juvenile delinquent "bad boy," sneering at authority or teamwork to show how "cool" he is (something it seemed like Imagi was doing). Not sure how much better this is though! Lonelylaugh

There was an episode where Ryu made fun of Jun's feelings for Ken, and she gave him a sharp jab with her elbow!
