I think the short hair makes Joe appear much softer. Maybe before he switched to his hard, edgy, angry attitude.
Obviously I am one of the few, if not the only one, who does not mind the short haired look on our boys. Not that I mind the long hair either.

CD, I think I agree with you. While I like the original version better, I do think Joe looks better with short hair than with facial hair. Again, though, I do think it is personal preference.
Becky, do you still have that story? You should share it with us if you do, even if it is incomplete and abandoned. Who knows, maybe some comments might bring it back to life.

lol ken with a beard just looks strange, but the short hair sorta works! I dont mind Joe with a beard though but prefer the long hair.

The short hair for Ken works... but it makes his face look fat! The Ken with the beard reminds me of a young (before he got fat, circa TNG Season 2) Commander Riker!

I like the last one of Ken. You are correct TJ, it does remind me of Commander Riker, but I think of all of them the last one matures his features.
In the image with the narrow mustache I can really see an echo of RI.
