Thank you all for the warm welcomes.
Allen: I couldn't think of a pic to put up for the avatar. Maybe once I get my daughters pic downloaded I can use it, if I can figure out how to transfer it from my files to here. Smile
SwanJun: Yes that would be me, grin! I finally figured how to get out of lurkingdom. I've been enjoying all kinds of fics since you recommended this site. Smile I'm really enjoying reading everything the talented folks have provided and those that are partcipating in the IF. I find myself anxious to see, at the end of each day, where the stories are going. In fact I recently read Madilayn's Bruise of the week and TJ's While you were sleeping stories. Needless to say I couldn't quit reading until I was done, lol, got to sleep around 3 am both nights last weekend. Smile
RI: My daughter (and I) love your avatar, it's so gorgeous. Everyone has so many amazing Avatar's they are all great. Smile I hope to have lots of fun here too. Thank you! Smile
Marie: I'm still trying to figure out how to scan the pic into my computer, worse case scenario I can take it with me when I go home for Thanksgiving and use my Dad's scanner. Smile I probably wouldn't have gotten hooked on B of the P's if I had seen GM first. My kids just don't see what I saw in it of course since they know GM first. My daughter absolutely hates Zark giggle.
Paly: It's fun isn't it corrupting them, grin! I thought mine would like it since they love Avatar the last Airbender. Smile My daughter loves Zuko off there so I can see why she instantly liked Joe. I knew the other one would fall in love with Jinpei too since he loves animals and bugs. Here 2 favorite hobbies. Smile
UW, TJ: All my kids stop what they are doing to watch with me, they tolerate me watching the subs first before we watch the dubs. Very rarely will they let me watch 2 subs in a row, they have to know what's going on in English first, lol. They torture me with quotes off the dubbed version too, groan.
Ame: My other daughter doesn't like Keyop too much either. She likes Jinpei the most. Smile
Boeke: I would love to get back into Bird Scramble, I've thought about it for years but never realized it would still be going strong. Wow, 102 issues that's wonderful. I met a lot of amazing and talented people through Bird Scramble and hated that I had to leave when I did. Frown
Thanks again to everyone for such a warm welcome, I think I'm really going to like it here. Like SJ told me a while back it's very addicting place and a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to hanging out. Smile

Pufles65, thank you! I love my avatar, too, and all credit goes to a brilliant artist here by the name of Thunderbird.

He's done many avatars (including Green's, SJ's, Maddy's, Garnet's and Candi's), all of them wonderful! If you get a chance, go to Artist's section in this forum, and under "Let me draw your birdstyle" (or something like that), you can see more of his wonderful work. Also, he and Springie's work are also at a site called, I believe, Deviant Art.

Pufles it would be great if you came back to Birdscramble. I know we'd all appreciate contributions from someone with your vast knowledge of the fandom!

I hear you on the kids just coming up to watch.,... I never intended to get my kids hooked on Gatchaman, but they just started watching with me when they were 2 and 4! I never minded their repeating or playing regarding the show... but what got me was Eagle Riders. Since I don't have much in the way of English Gatch II or F, Eagle Riders is what they saw, and ooh, it hurts sometimes to hear them playing Eagle Riders. Of course, recently their big thing is Ben 10.

I'm glad you liked While You Were Sleeping! That's one of my older ones... wow. I haven't updated fics on this site in awhile, but my newer ones (along with *tons* of other wonderful fanfics, including from older Birdscramble members) are on http://gatchfanfic.com . You may want to check out that site for more Gatchy goodness!

TJ, that may be one of your older ones, but it's one of my favorites. Not sure how many times I've read it. But then there aren't that many completed Jason/Princess stories out there.

Don't worry regarding the pic ... we can wait!Smile

As to preferring Gatchaman over BotP, that's what has happened to me! I was fortunate enough to have been able to watch all the three series during my childhood, after just coming to know about BotP, and I had been totally hooked by the original series, without turning back! And, I can also assure you that it's not only your daughter who hates hearing Zark giggle, not mentioning other things!

RI: Thank you for the suggestions I will definitely check out both artist sites. I'm afraid I don't have much talent in that department, I leave that to my girls. Smile They amaze me how well they can draw. My oldest is getting into a lot of anime art lately, she loves manga.
TJ: Grin, I don't know about vast knowledge but I do know I'd love to get back into Bird Scramble. I love Japanime and the Japanese culture. I was even fortunate enough to be stationed in Korea for a year but still didn't make it to Japan, well except to change planes. Frown I'd love to visit there sometime. Maybe when my kids are young adults we can all go over together. Smile I was also a little surprised that they took to GM so quickly and very happy all 3 love it. Smile Once finances settle down I hope to start collecting up some B of the P's DVD's too. (I still have to get ahold of GM#13 too, sigh) I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they get GM II & III subbed and dubbed. Can't wait to see them.
One of my fav fics I've read since getting back into the fandom and you wrote is Evolution. I've re-read that one at least 4 or 5 times too. Smile I have visited the Gatchfanfic site you recommended too, that's where I learned that Bird Scramble is still around. I even found Wendy Diinzumo's site and that lead me to the info for Bird Scramble. If my real life ever calms down enough I fully plan on getting back to where I started. Smile Thanks for the link to more goodies, I love reading all the delicious fics. Smile
Marie: Yeah watching Zark now I try to remember how we (as kids) explained away all the nonsense he use to drabble on about. My 2 brothers use to watch with me, and with me being the oldest and the babysitter we all played G-Force (which is what we called it way before Ted Turner). Smile My older of the two brothers was always Tiny/Zoltar, the younger was Chief Anderson/Great Spirit/Col Cronus and our little sister was Zark, giggle. I got to be the other 4, wicked grin! In fact my younger brother got so good at playing Anderson he invented a finger loopy thing that not only made the eyeglasses for the Chief but he would hold them upside down so his fingers could go across his nose for the mustache. Giggle, laugh, snort, just thinking about him doing that now as an almost 40 yr old cracks me up. Smile We hated Zark too and the really really bad animation that went with him. Loved the storyline though. Aww, memories. Smile

Pufles, it sounds like you had a lot of fun living in Korea! I've been to Japan, but only for a few days, not a year! I'd lov to take my kids to Asia as well.

I believe a lot of people here are watching BOTP on veoh.com, although I gather some of the episodes have been removed. I'd love to see Gatchaman II/F subbed or dubbed... but I'm not holding my breath.

LOL, Evolution was an excuse to write some Mark/Princess smut... and more Mark/Princess smut... and, oh yeah, a little more Mark/Princess smut. I let Vulcan Pon Farr inspire me. And then, what do you know, a plot showed up! But it all came about because I had written Inhibitions and people wanted a Swan/Eagle smut fic.

Amethyst, I didn't realize that Jason/Princess was such a rarity! But now that you mention it... I think I've only got one other one, which is No More Games, and that's pretty short.Oh wait, there's also International Birds of Mystery.

As for other ones... EbonySwanne wrote Ice Castles, and I can't recall the name, but I know SJ has a Jason/Princess fic as well. I'll have to see if there are others...

I can empathize with the time in Korea - although I did manage to get to Tokyo a couple of times... at least long enough to get the visa for Seoul!

I also dropped you a PM on the subject of Bird Scramble - just in case you overlook the notification...

TJ: I did, just missed my kids badly. Frown 1 yr remotes suck, that's why I want to go back with them some day. Smile
BTW-Love your new avatar. Smile I'll have to check out veoh.com I didn't know they had any sites other than you tube. Thanks for the hook-up. Smile I think that's why I like Evolution so much, M/P smut, giggle. Kinda partial to it. Wink I was thinking that while I was reading it, glad to see I was right on target and it explained so many things too. I love it so much talking about it I had to start reading it again. Grin!
Boeke: I wish I could have made it to Tokyo, I would have had the funds if I hadn't decided to come home to the kiddos for my mid-tour, they always come first and by the time they finally let me take off I missed them badly. I didn't see a notification, what's a PM? Sorry to be so clueless...

Pufles, go into your profile and you'll see a section for Private Messages. Notifications come through your email.

My brother is career Air Force, he did two 1 year tours in Korea (brought home some killer custom made Niner jackets). What years were you there. He mostly worked the intelligence office, briefing the pilots and such. One time, while in Korea, Tom Cruise visited and he got stuck taking pictures for everyone else. Though I think it was intentional that he didn't get one, he's 6'5".

Thanks, Pufles! I believe the avatar pic comes from one of the old laserdisc covers (back when that was the only way to get the Gatchaman series).

Hum... now you've got me thinking... I haven't written any Mark/Princess smut in awhile. Well, unless you count that random ficlet in the Rubber Room. I've been writing a lot more Gatch smut. Ah, the sacrifices... Wink

Welcome Pufles.

I am sorry I have not been around much to welcome you earlier. Hopefully we will manage to persuade you to post some of your work for us newer members to read. As you have already been told, we always love new stories.

AME: Thanks for the info on the PM. Smile I was in Korea from Aug 06 to Aug 07. Wow that would have been cool to see Tom Cruise. Smile My ex was deployed when he got a similar job following Robin Williams around with his digital camera. I was at work and he sent me a pic email with him and RW. It took me a few minutes to realize who he was standing next to. I was excited to see a pic of him, LOL.
TJ: I love laserdisc, we had a few of them after I first got married, the Ex was the collector so he took them with him when he left. I didn't have any I really wanted to keep anyway, would have loved to had GM though. Ooo that would be wonderful if you get inspired to write more M/P smut. Wicked grin! I agree with Gatchgirl, more fics are a real treat. Smile
CD: Nice to meet you, and thank you for the warm welcome. I hope things are going better for you real soon. Smile
I'm still timid on posting Fic, I can read mine over and over and it just doesn't look right to me. I know something's missing but can't figure out how to make it flow. The ideas are limitless, it's the talent that scares me. Smile I will definitely post here first though to share and get as much constructive criticsm as I can to get better. Smile TJ, SJ, Maddy, Green, Garnet, RI, and the many other talent writers here just make it look so easy. Smile

Posted by clouddancer on 14-10-2010 at 15:44:

And CONSTRUCTIVE help is all you will receive here Pufles. I know !!
When I first began writing and posted my first story I was very afraid they would not be appreciated, but it was. And with lots of support from many people here I was able to continue trying and have managed to write some more stories. Some of which I have even been convinced to post.

Pufles, if you're nervous, you can always send your story to someone you trust to beta for you. I find that it always helps to have a fresh perspective read stories and make comments... sometimes people see things in ways you never intended.

Thanks for the advice guys. Smile I'm hoping once the winter sets in that things will slow down and I'll have more time to write. I have a bunch of ideas started and even a few that I've taken to a few pages, I just keep getting interrupted with kids and work to go further. Frown Love my kids and missed them bunches this summer but all spare time goes away when they are home, grin! My daughter keeps encouraging me to write one of the stories I let her read and if she nags me enough I might get it polished up enough to show here. Here's hoping. Smile Thanks again for the encouragement, it is greatly appreciated. Smile

Looking forward to read your ficcies, Pufles! I've hesitated a lot before submitting my few ones, but, with some help and encouragement that's always found here, and with the fortune of having the best, first beta ever, I've managed to get out of the shell!
