I second that.

Huggles Hug

My dad had kidney stones. Nasty.

(The father of a friend of mine had the following advice: drink a six-pack of beer and jump up and down to dislodge the stone. That sounds like the worst. advice. ever.)

I had kidney stones when I was pregnant with my daughter -Aaaghhh!! Poor Ste!

I've heard -from the teacher in a Health Unit Coordinator class- that kidney stones can be harder on men because of the longer pathway.

Best wishes and hugs to you both!

I hope they find out soon for him whats causing the pain, and he's on the mend in no time.

I suspect that if his white cell count evens out, he will be let out in the morning.

Oh poor Ste! The BF had them once, but if I recall, once he'd been put on morphine it was relatively bearable and they passed within a couple days.

Best wishes to him (and you) for a speedy recovery!

Free! Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

...of hospital, that is. Still, apparently, have the stones. One on each side. Never do things the easy way, me...

Ste!

I'd glomp you but I'm concerned that in your current situation it would hurt.

And Maddy would hurt me.

Fingers crossed that all, um, passes without much pain - or enough drugs to make it fun!

Welcome back!

My one experience with the fun stuff was when I was 15 and had just had my wisdom teeth removed -codeine had me so high I was basically hallucinating that I was flying around in the back yard, when I was really in bed. Unfortunately, I told my mother about this and she promptly reduced my dosage.

I hope you're doing okay, Ste!

I don't remember anything from when I had my wisdom teeth removed. I had to go completely under and then once they were done, I was thrown to my mother's care.

She tells me we had an argument in the car on the way home.

I wanted vodka.

She wouldn't give me any.

And my lip was something that was freaking me right out. Apparently I wouldn't accept that it was mine despite being attached to my face - which was the problem I was having with it in the first place... *sigh* I missed all the good stuff of being legally stoned - and she didn't. Even after ten years she can't talk about the trip home without laughing until she cries and I haven't got a single memory of it....

I didn't have much trouble with my wisdom teeth coming out. (I told them to knock me flat; if someone's cutting at me, I DON'T want to be awake for it!) My big experience with codeine came after the very difficult birth of my son. Very interesting dreams.

But I wound up throwing out the last few pills because I started wanting to take it just to take it. Not good. Badacid And I did talk it over with my doctor.

For a bit of surgery to make a crown possible (tooth broke), I was given something, and while my brain seemed to be working as well as ever, whenever I spoke, well, I Had To Speak Slowly And Clearly. If I ever said anything truly effed up, my mother didn't pass it on.

Oh, Green! Yours is quite a story and it's hilarious how different drugs have different effects on those who take them! I'm allergic to most of them, so I don't even know where to begin to explain their effect on me!

I had my four wisdom teeth extracted at once when I was 26 years old during a 2 and a half hour operation ... they had never appeared at all at the surface and I was risking the growth of cysts which could have lead to infection. Obviously, during the operation I was under anaesthetic the entire time, so I didn't feel anything when they were cutting ... the pain came afterwards, when the effect was over, and loads of it! I had a swollen, bruised and sore face for days and I sincerely don't know how my fiance', who's now my DH, didn't leave me for good after seeing such a horrible scene! We still laugh when we recall those days!

The most immediate thing that I remember after the surgery is that I threw up for several long hours before my interior was entirely cleared from the anaesthetic, which my body seemed to have not fancied at all, and that I was in a very bad mood! I didn't want anyone around me and I still feel guilty for not treating my parents and my fiance' so well when they only wanted to keep me company and see that I was well!

Another thing that I surely will never forget is that, even if I weren't that much cooperative, my dear mother, who was already very sick, that day being some months before her passing away, wanted to watch over me all through the night to ensure that I was okay. I remember quarrelling with her because I didn't want her to tire out, but she told me, "You've stayed with me for entire nights at the hospital ... now it's my turn to do my part!" She didn't need to add more ... I then knew how much it was important for her to do so when she had been long dreading the fact of her becoming useless due to her illness. So, I quietened and let her stay with me in my room ... that was the last night we had spent together ... just a few months afterwards I got married and then she eventually passed away.

Oh my...wisdom teeth...I had mine removed right before I got married...and the doctor couldn't find a vein so that he could put me out. He stuck me 8 times...I was such a wreck by the end of it, my knees were jumping off the seat!

Finally, he gave me a choice...I could either go to the hospital to be put under anesthesia, or I could stay awake and he would give me laughing gas and painkillers while he cut the teeth out.

I chose to stay awake. Big mistake.

I could hear everything going on and feel pressure. He'd say, "You're going to feel a little tug..." and my whole head would come up off the seat as he pulled!

I could also hear the squeak of the thread as he stitched me up. Apparently, the laughing gas wasn't working, because I wasn't laughing!

When my fiance and mom walked in afterward, I finally broke down crying.

Later that day, my fiance (DH) gave me a coke ...we weren't thinking...the bubbles hit the back where the teeth had been removed...yeeeeeouuuuch!

We both still talk about it...he felt so bad.
