Worse, it's a Kia as right now I can't afford the Fords that I would want. Overall, I've been fairly lucky in the cars that I've owned, one major lemon, that was a Plymouth, so long as I keep them away from my hubby. He is clueless about cars.

Kia?

they certainly have the "Power To Surprise" alright but they are really Torturous on breaking down a friend of mine owns a Kia (Yes they named it after sedona Arizona Smile ) and she had to take it to the Kia dealer in prescott and found out a few things: 1. the serpentine belt fried because the A/C compressor froze 2. the spark plug was misthreaded causing the Engine to pop the spark plug out of the cylinder and on top of that the engine misfired even when the spark plug was replaced.

so amethyst i can feel ur pain because she told me and I quote "This Car is a pain in My A**. She Decided To Sell It And She Bought a DMC-12 Gullwing

I wish I could afford to sell mine. It's got 150k miles on it, so it ain't worth much and have no money for a newer car. Since we still need a family my Mustang is out of the question, but wouldn't mind looking at Nissan's Murano or Chevy's Tahoe hybrid as pipe dreams.

It doesn't go down very often, but when it does, it goes down big. The first time, we were lucky the whole electrical system shorted out and it was still under warrenty. We still have a few bugs, but nothing major or that affects the operation of the vehicle. The last one in October was a big one.

Right now, we are being nickled and dimed with my parents old Lincoln that my hubby drives. I don't like the car. The hood should not be longer than the cabin!

I drive an Acura...great car...it has lasted forever...I'm crossing my fingers that it will last a while longer. It's paid off and I don't want another car payment anytime soon! Car

The secret to cars lasting is not the brand, but the maintenance. That doesn't mean follow factory specs to the letter, but learn your car and keep the fluids changed regulary everything three to six months depending upon age and how often and type of driving you do. Replace belts and hoses when they show signs of wear and take notice of which ones wear out faster.

As Jun pointed out above about his friends Kia, same make as mine, the Serpentine belt goes often. The original lasted nearly as long as factory specs suggested. The replacements have worn out faster and it is pain to change.

The only cars worth having are either German or Japanese, which is kind of strange when you think both of these countries lost the world war that they now have some of the best engineering in the world.
