Sigh, what little time I seem to have for writing these days is currently going towards something that's already in the works.

So many fun ideas, so little time...

Maybe in a couple of weeks we can start the IF and see what happens...

Sadly, I wouldn't be able to guarantee a lot of participation. Between work (just been talked into writing a newspaper article, have to straighten out the first quarter 941 etc.), my fic-in-progress, and my former advisor prodding me to be a contributor to an "Elizabethan Encyclopedia," I feel like my plate's full -wah!

I can completely sympathize. Huggles I'm supposed to be on summer vacation and my publisher just keeps piling work on me!

Great job LB and all those who provide us with the episode of the week. All pics and commentaries are great and renew memories of long forgotten episodes from childhood which nevertheless stay attached in our minds. May I ask a question?! Do you ever get frustrated when reality is adjusted to the time frame of an episode thus creating a faulty sense in your mind, like e.g. the rapidity in which the God Phoenix is repaired and enhanced in just a fraction of time so as to give them the chance of combating and winning the dragon mecha still attached to the underwater portion of the mining facility?Question

Good question! Yes, I see why the writers might fear that viewers will get bored with scenes of the characters just sitting around "twiddling their thumbs" (to quote Jinpei) and want to get back to the action quickly, but it wouldn't be that hard to work in at least a couple lines of dialogue that indicate that a good chunk of time has passed while the God Phoenix was repaired and modified! And after the bad shape they were all in when the God Phoenix crashed, I'd like to think that they had some time to sleep and recuperate before they went out to battle the mecha a second time.

All in all, I just have to tell myself that more is going on than there is time to show in an episode, and try to fill in the gaps with my imagination. That can be fun...

Now that I think about it, in episode 67 the God Phoenix gets destroyed and then they are all shown sitting around the Snack J "twiddling their thumbs" because they don't have a new ship yet (and end up taking out their frustration on a couple of guys who criticize the Science Ninja Team for not doing anything).

You make a good point, Marie! I was prepping a couple of upcoming episodes of the week and had this exact complaint! Ken would say 'Let's go!" and then half a second later they're in the Bridge and most of the way there to their destination, without a second's pause.

But then, it just gives us more stuff to comment on as we write the episode reviews. Wink

With the possible exception of "24," every show does that. They have a limited amount of time in which to tell their story, so they can't always take the time to show things like the Ninja Team boarding the God Phoenix, launching from Crescent Coral Reef, and the long flight to their destination. It's called "editing," and really isn't anything worth complaining about.

It was actually pretty cool seeing SNT lose at first. Ken kicked some serious ass in this episode and was a one man army. Not only that, but seeing Ken have a near death experience was a cool moment too.

I think it's fairly obvious why he was thinking of Red Impulse in his final moments. It's because RI is his....

For some reason this is one of 5-6 eps I always remembered from my BOTP viewing days for the reasons you just mentioned John.
