I was told it was a cost thing -- Early on her hair was black.
My understanding was that the black paint was too expensive so they opted to go green -- or something like that.

To me, it seems to vary in colour (unless it's just the way my computer moniter is set or that some images have faded over time). I'd definitely say her hair is green in the first pic, but not the second.

ITA it varies. Her eyes do too. Sometimes they are blue. (the scene in Jigokillers where she is talking to Jinpei before going off on her own on the bike comes to mind)

I think they also try and take on the lighting they want the scene to appear so they vary the colours of hair and eyes to create it.
Well, green is a common base colour in black paint, and after time the green becomes stronger.

While I'm sure that they weren't going to tell people right away that the Space Joker was actually Joe, these things (Along with a recognizable, if disguised, face)would have made it hard for most viewers not to have figured out who he was.

Thank you James for letting me know about the plans for Gatchaman 2. It seemed an interesting idea of having Joe working for Galactor again but then it would have been obvious that the Space Joeker character was Joe.

'Secret Lives' was my second story. I did it because TJ wanted to know what happened with Joe and his new Girl friend from the previous story.
